Ah, summer: that sundrenched time of year when pruning fingers, salt-water hair, and strawberry-seed-smiles reign supreme. The list of ways we love summer could stretch on and on, but one of our very favorite ways to celebrate the season is a fresh-faced approach to beauty. We know that backyard BBQ’S, beach days, and getaways are filling up your calendar quickly, so we decided to create our interpretation of the perfect casual, summertime beauty look to rock at any low-key event.

Our ideal summer look is equal parts glowing skin, soft eyes, and punchy lips. Here’s how to achieve it.

Glowing Skin

For a flawless but sheer coverage that won’t weigh you down in the heat, we love using a BB Cream. When creating this look we used Kiehl’s BB Cream, but don’t forget to check out our guide to BB and CC creams for a list of all of our favorites.

The next step towards a gorgeous summer face is flushed cheeks. We used Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin on the apples of the cheeks and topped off the glow with Jouer Tint in Sunkissed as a bronzer.

Soft Eyes

To keep this look backyard appropriate, opt for subdued eye makeup. Start by lining the waterline with a nude or white pencil to make your eyes really pop. We used The BrowGal Highlighter Pencil. Next, apply a touch of bronzer to your lids for a hint of color (we like Tarte Matte Waterproof Bronzer). Finally, add a couple swipes of Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara to complete the look.

Punchy Lips

To finish, give your look some major style by adding a vibrant, bold lip. We’re mad about coral, orange, fuchsia, and purple this season.  To get the look we used Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids in Electric Orange, plus a dab of Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Metallic Sunburst in the center of the lip to add some shine.
