We’re off to Scandinavia today for the wedding of Sara and Daniel. The Swedish and Armenian couple got married on a lovely summer’s day in the town of Uppsala in south-east Sweden. Uppsala is a pretty university city and ecclesiastical capital of the country, with the cathedral here one of the biggest and most magnificent in Sweden. Sara and Daniel had their ceremony in this elegant church following a visit to the botanical gardens for photos, and Jane Haglund was there to capture the essence of their day.

Wedding preparations took place at Grand Hotell Hörnan in Uppsala, where the bridal entourage was gathered. Sara managed to follow the purple color theme they had decided on even down to her choice of eye shadow. The couple followed their first look in the hotel with photos in the botanical gardens, and then on to the stunning Uppsala Cathedral for the ceremony. After this Sara and Daniel took a cruise around town in the Rolls Royce they had rented before joining their guests at the reception. In Armenia the wedding tradition is to give couples a monetary gift and Sara made an envelope cake to symbolise this. The couple made a lot of the decorations themselves, as well as the sweet cakes pops. Traditionally Swedish weddings have many speeches and entertaining games, whereas Armenian weddings are a lot about dancing, so this wedding had a perfect balance of both. Their photographer Jane says “After dinner, everyone- young and old- started dancing like there was no tomorrow!“ Thanks so much to Jane Haglund for sharing these images and the story of the day with us.
