We have a real treat for those of you getting married abroad and looking for some cool, refreshing treats to share at your wedding reception. Ice Lollies, Ice Pops or Popsicles are the way to go this year and trust us, your guests will thank you for us! Whether you are renting a villa and have the facilities to make your own, or buy in from your caterer or the shop down the road… it’s all about creating a fun atmosphere and cooling your guests and yourselves down. They do come with a warning though… they melt so watch your wedding dress!

Poptails

So, when I started researching this post, I didn’t realise that I would find a new blog obsession! Many of yummy pops I was pinning all started making their way back to the same source… a food blog called Endless Simmer and basically, I’ve become a loyal fan of an ongoing post series coined, endless poptails. What are poptails I hear you say? Eh, possibly the greatest invention in the world! Poptails are Ice Pop Cocktails, two of my favourite things in one and here are some of their most delicious…

Some of my other favourites were the boozy lime, honey and lemongrass popsicle, the maple brown derby ice pops and the chocolate martini pudding pop,

Poptails would be a great alternative to a cocktail reception, especially so if you are having a summer wedding or a wedding abroad in the fine sunshine. Guests will really be in holiday wedding mood after one of these sweet treats.

Ice Pops

Of course, normal, non alcoholic ice pops will go down just as well. The popsicles do not have to be homemade or even styled to the max. They will need to be served as soon as possible so make sure you discuss your ice pop plan with your venue well in advance. A few favourites that we came across were the Mango Sorbet Lemon Thyme pops, the Key Lime Pie Pops (dessert on a Pop, another genius idea!) , the Cherry Yoghurt Pop, Blueberry Yoghurt Swirl, Strawberry Pineapple Pop and finally the Edible Flower Popsicle that we also included in our Edible Flowers post a few months back.

Finally, there is a solutions to combat melting ice pops in the heat and they are called…

Popshots

First of all, I’m amused that there is a name for them! Secondly,  how practical these little coolers are! The pop is in the glass, with a stick so you can pop it back in if it’s melting too quickly. No sticky fingers, just lips to be licked! works great for both alcoholic and non alcoholic options!

Hopefully we have given you some food for thought.. popsicles for thought, whatever inspiration you might be looking for to add to your sunny, destination wedding!
