Eveline & Gerben’s Fun Hot Pink Wedding

Morning wedding lovers! How’s this week going so far? I’m pretty sure you’re tackling the final bits of wedmin as the wedding season is in full swing and lots of you will be tying the knot over the next few sunny weeks!  For me and the b.team, our attention is turning to inspiration and ideas for our autumn/winter projects, all very exciting and I can’t wait to share what we’re up too.  Let’s just say there’s a bit of a new direction and some exciting news on the way!

Fans of bright & colourful weddings are going to loooove today’s hot pink real wedding from Dutch photographer Anouschka Rokebrand!  There’s always a slight risk a bold pink & white colour palette can look a bit ‘Barbie’, but Eveline & Gerben’s day shows how these colours can be used to create a really vibrant and fun celebration!  I love the cute polaroid details, love hearts and flowers which give their day a distinctly tropical look!  Eveline also incorporated the pink theme into her outfit with enough wow-factor to create a statement and not be over-the-top, pink shoes? Yes please!

Here’s Eveline with more details ~

Gerben and I met 12 years ago at the local football club. This is where our friendship  started. After a few years of “just being friends”, and doing things that friends do together, Gerben told me he felt a lot more than friendship and we started dating. In 2008 we bought our first home which we renovated for more than 9 months together with our friends and family. A big relationship test, but we passed  it!  We both like to travel and we visited a few countries the past few years, Kenya, Costa Rica and last summer Canada. We were sitting around the camp fire when Gerben pulled out a small white box out of his camera bag, and he proposed to me! Of course my answer was YES! At every beautiful spot we visited during our vacation he asked me again and my answer away was the same as my first one.

Together with my mother I visited several shops to find the perfect dress. On my wish list was a white slim dress with coloured shoes. I’m not the type for a dress with meters of fabric at the back of the dress, so we could skip most of the dresses. I ended up with two totally different dresses which were both beautiful. But it was hard to choose. The lady who helped me in the shop added some colour to both dress by adding a pink ribbon to the first one and some pink pieces of fabric on the second. This was an amazing positive change to both dresses. After trying on the dresses several times, I choose my perfect dress with the pink pieces of fabric on my left shoulder.  I had my bridal shoes dyed to match the pink details on my dress. The effect was amazing and I would recommend it to other brides to be. A small bit of colour can make a huge difference!  I wore simple pearl earrings and a floral wrist corsage instead of a bouquet.  I made a garter with my mother and grandmother which was very special to wear.

We married on Saturday evening in one of the gardens of a party venue called Viersprong. It’s near the beach in ‘s-Gravenzande in Holland. When choosing our venue it was important for us that, if the sun was shining, we could say our vows outside.  We also wanted a cosy space for our 100 guests that had a lovely atmosphere and wasn’t too big and empty.  We made almost all of the  decorations ourselves! I made the bunting, table linen and cushions with the help of my mother-in-law to be.  Gerben and I decorated the bunting with lyrics and dates which mean something to us. To thank our guest for their visit we baked over 300 chocolate chip cookies and packed them in brown cookies bags with a label and a “made with love” sticker”. We asked our florist to choose grasses and flowers as if they were picked in the nearby grassland The main colour of the flowers was fuchsia.  For our evening party we made a photo booth with lots of props. It still makes us smile when we see the photos!

One of our friends gave us the tip to look at Anouschka Rokebrand’s work..  We met some time before our wedding and got to know each other and her work.   Gerben and I had a good feeling about Anouschka after our visit and we’ve asked her to shoot our wedding.  To get to know Anouschka and being in front of her camera, we did a loveshoot a few weeks before our wedding. After that we had some beautiful pictures and it made a lot of difference on our wedding day. I felt more comfortable for the “real” shoot.

favourite moment

The look in Gerben his eye’s when I came down the stairs in our home and we saw each other for the first time in our wedding outfits

first dance

We didn’t have a first dance, but ee entered the wedding ceremony with the song “Better Together” by Jack Johnson.

advice

I would do it all the same! But I have some tips for brides to be. Make a storyboard with all the ideas you’ve got. Search for photos on the internet and in magazines and form you own wedding based on that. Make it a unique party. Start on time, the saves a lot of stress and money because there are a lot of things you can DIY instead of buying. And believe me, it’s a lot of fun even before your wedding day starts!
