3 Work Appropriate Looks That Are Anything But Boring

Saving your best beauty looks for the weekend is a waste of a perfectly good week. Sure, some of the season’s bolder beauty trends may not scream “I’m ready for my presentation in conference room B,” but there are exciting work appropriate options that won’t have you startling your coworkers.

Simple Sophistication

Taking the subtle approach to 9-5 beauty doesn’t have to be all beiges and browns. Play with color in one place and keep the rest of the face fresh and natural. On our model Elaine, Celebrity makeup artist Elle Leary applied foundation mixed with a drop of moisturizer to even skin tone. With just a dusting of matte bronzer (try Kevyn Aucoin Beauty the Sculpting Powder or Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer) and a swipe of soft blush for the cheeks, the eyes can really shine. Leary used muted pink and purple eyeshadows, and then added a touch of sparkle just in the center of the lid with Urban Decay Moondust in Intergalactic. Black eyeliner and mascara finish the look.

Playful Pop of Color

If you’re more of lipstick-loving girl, keep the focus on one feature and pop the lip. Leary applied a berry shade of lipstick, pressing the color in with her finger to give it a natural “just bitten” look. To complement the pretty pout, Leary toned down the eye makeup, opting for only a subtle highlight in the inner corner of the eye with Chanel Illusion D’Ombre.

Subtle Sheen

For the carefree creative type, Leary took the work appropriate look one step further. She added sheen to an unexpected feature, the eyes. Leary balanced the look of the ck one Gloss Eyecolour in Loud by adding definition to the lash line with L’Oréal Colour Riche Eyeliner in Black and keeping the rest of the look polished and matte. A bit of blush, matte lipstick (we love Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils and Lancôme Color Design Lipcolors) and dot of sheer gloss in the center of your pout complete the look.
