Free-Spirited Graffiti Artist Wedding: Kristen + Dusty

Free-Spirited Graffiti Artist Wedding: Kristen + Dusty

via

Kristen + Dusty are both artists by trade (she a horse painter + he a graffiti artist), so when it came time to plan their free-spirited Oklahoma City wedding, they knew it would only be right to celebrate their love in the Plaza District – where they had met several years earlier – working to build the Oklahoma art scene. When they realized nowhere in the district had enough room for the amount of people they wanted to invite, they decided to transform a gravel parking lot into the perfect outdoor space for their wedding! And even though they were on a budget, that didn’t mean they had to skimp on style. Their creative friends helped them pull off a beautiful day, full of fun + meaningful details that allowed their artistic personalities to shine through.

Big thanks to Tyler Siems Photography for the super gorgeous images and congrats to Kristen + Dusty!

I’m crazy about their colorful ceremony backdrop! So perfect for these two!

Kristen: Before the wedding my bridesmaids and I were upstairs looking out the window at all the guests arriving below. I was so giddy to see all of the people there to support us, and seeing Dusty just made me so excited for what was about to take place.

Dusty: I loved the when we were announced as bride and groom. There was a relief in knowing that the formalities were completed, and all we had to do from then on was celebrate with our friends and family and be married.

And love that horses + spray cans were common themes throughout the wedding, as a nod to their artistic backgrounds.

Dusty hand-painted the letters over the dessert table and his mom (a former bakery owner) made the desserts!

And remember that giant I Love You backdrop from the first photo? Well, that was part of Dusty’s proposal! The photos below by Jaclyn Marie show-off Dusty’s proposal to Kristen! Talk about romantic…

The old coin laundry building had just been purchased. It was my favorite little building in the district, and I was excited to see it come back to life. One November morning Dusty took me to breakfast. As we went through the district, he parked in front of the Coin Laundry, and I looked over at the once blank wall to see a giant I LOVE YOU! and proposal message. Right there, in the middle of the district in the early morning light, I said yes!

Let others help you. Dusty and I are both pretty stubborn and we don’t like to burden others, but allowing so many people to help with our wedding was humbling. We felt so loved, and it allowed our friends and family the chance to use their talents to bless us.
