Happy Monday Dotties! It’s set to be an exciting week at Polka Dot HQ and I think, I don’t want to say too early- but is that Spring finally here? Yes even I, lover of Winter admit I am looking forward to warmer weather, just a bit!

Monday morning tradition at Polka Dot Bride is to showcase the fantastic members of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory.  From Cinematography (films to make you cry and remember that last dance) Hair & Beauty (to make your eyelashes look ten times longer than they are and make your glowing self glow to the highest degree) Styling & Hire (for that rustic wooden table hire, or someone to come up with a creative mission and pull it all together) and of course… Cakes (they’re so good looking it might be tough to eat them).

We love this week’s vendor of the week so much we were giddy with excitement on her wedding day. You see, not only is the fabulous Koren Harvey a marriage celebrant, but she’s just over a month married herself and shared all of her wedding plans- from the proposal to the dress over on Polka Dot Weddings. We’ve been gushing over Koren’s gorgeous plans for months, excited on her wedding day and even more thrilled that she is a member of Ms Polka Dot’s Directory!

Koren says she has the best job in the world (always a good sign right?) but she’s also been performing ceremonies since 2010. She’s fresh, free spirited and darn good at what she does. She works with couples to create the ceremony that matches their own personal style and then she rocks it on the day (but the focus will still be on you).

We asked Koren from Koren Harvey Marriage Celebrant five questions in five minutes -

What is your favourite after five drink?
A gin and tonic. Simple, summery and delicious – and really hard to get wrong! In winter, I warm up with a good Pinot Noir.

Your favourite weekend getaway?
Daylesford. All the seasons seem much more vibrant there, particularly autumn when all the colours change. We have a favourite little villa just outside town and both my fiancé Dave and I love nothing more than walking in, dumping our bags and spending the afternoon in the spa (preferably with a good book and a glass of wine or two), followed by cooking dinner together then falling asleep in front of the fire. Best of all, neither of us have mobile reception there so it’s a wonderful opportunity to retreat from the world!

Favourite restaurant?
Church St Enoteca in Richmond. It’s incredibly atmospheric and just walking through the door can turn an ordinary Monday night into a special event. The food, wine and service is exceptional and I have dreams about their tiramisu.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
If we’re out, it’s for corn and zucchini fritters at Dukes Coffee Roasters on Chapel St, Windsor. They’re incredibly addictive, particularly when paired with their house-roasted coffee. If we’re at home, we do a Swedish style smorgasbord of ham, cheese, bread, fruit and yoghurt which we linger over with coffee.

Your favourite wedding story?
Oh, there are so many! One that stands out to me for sheer spontaneous joy was Cameron and Amanda’s wedding on the balcony at Melbourne Town Hall last year. As they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, a massive cheer went up from Swanston St below, surprising us all. No one had realised that the wedding had attracted a crowd across the street and a group of about 10 people were waiting below for their moment to congratulate the newlyweds. They clapped, cheered and whistled at Cameron and Amanda who waved back in between kisses and excited giggles. It reminded me that everyone (even complete strangers) really does love a wedding and all the love, joy and magic that’s part of them.
