Even though Labor Day weekend has come and gone, I imagine most of us aren’t quite ready to say goodbye to summer just yet. Good thing Meg Hamilton of Rodeo & Co. Photography sent over Meghan and Teddy’s beautiful lakeside wedding!

The bride describes a favorite part of the day: “Our favorite moment was when we arrived on the beautiful Miss Sunapee II, an antique Cris Craft boat, to the yacht club; all of our guests were waiting on the terrace. It was so special to look up at all their smiling happy faces and hear their cheers.”

The bride’s inspiration? “I love the preppy nautical look, so it was only fitting to incorporate that style into our lakeside wedding at the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club. I used lots of navy and white with pops of hot pink. The mercury glass canisters reminded me of the mirror-like quality of the lake in early morning, and the birch accents were a tribute to the beautiful trees surrounding our cottage.”

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  Some of my favorite childhood memories took place at Lake Sunapee: making blanket forts in the living room of our family cottage, watching July 4th fireworks on the dock, jumping off the diving board at the yacht club, and fishing with my grandmother. I brought Teddy to visit in the summer of 2012 and he was excited to relax and go fishing. He surprised me by not only falling in love with the location, but by proposing on our dock under a sky of shooting stars on the eve of July 4th. It was the perfect place for us to start our lives together!

Did you include any traditions in your wedding?  Along with the traditional “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” I also carried two sixpence. One was from my mother in law and I wore it in my shoe, and my grandmother helped me make a last-minute rhinestone sash, and she surprised by sewing her sixpence into the fabric so I could always keep it close. And finally, one of my favorite small details of our wedding; on my bouquet were tiny charms for my grandfather and uncle who passed away. I knew they were with me all day.

What was the best advice you received as a bride? The best advice I received was to sit back and take it all in. The day goes by so fast, you have to relax and enjoy it. Teddy and I were lucky to be able to get around and talk to most of our guests at a barbecue the evening before, so that on our wedding day we could relax and have a drink, take in the view, and dance!

What advice do you have for other brides?  My advice is that you can’t please everyone; do what feels right to you, choose things that reflect you and your love together.

Is there anything else that helps tell the story of the day?  We rented out a big old bed and breakfast for our wedding party to stay together for the long weekend. It was so much fun to have everyone in one place, enjoying family-style breakfast each morning, and allowing our friends from all parts of our lives meet one another and form new friendships.
