Bianca & Tiaan’s Vintage Love {Part 1}

Bianca & Tiaan’s Vintage Love {Part 1}

via

For brides planning a winter wedding, today’s celebration from Erna Loock Photography is the perfect inspiration!  With a soft, neutral colour palette of coffee, ivory and sage and incorporating rustic touches and textures Bianca & Tiaan’s elegant wedding has just the right amount of cosiness and sophistication.  Bianca embraced the vintage trend incorporating family heirlooms, and giving them an up-to-date twist with heaps of DIY projects including growing their own succulents!  I have to mention Bianca’s gorgeous look, her bespoke dress inspired by Halle Berry, and her bridesmaids perfectly complimenting the overall style in their sparkly nude dresses (still love this trend!!). There’s simply too much to mention, so join us again this afternoon for Part 2.

Over to Bianca with their sweet love story and the most romantic proposal!

We’ve known each other a long time as we went to the same schools, and our mom’s work together, so indirectly we knew a lot about each other!  Sparks started flying when I asked Tiaan to accompany me to my cousin’s wedding. Tiaan suggested that we meet up beforehand for a coffee to avoid any awkwardness on the day…and that’s what we did. We chatted for hours on end and just clicked as we had so much in common. And we have basically been inseparable ever since! The day before my cousins wedding Tiaan officially asked me out and instead of taking “just a friend” to the wedding… my boyfriend, Tiaan, accompanied me!

Last year, we went to the family farm where Tiaan grew up. We packed a picnic and climbed the mountain Tiaan had told me about.  We found a spot with an amazing view and poured some wine.  Tiaan broke the silence by telling stories of when he was a child and how much he enjoyed growing up on the farm, and most of his favourite moment.  He asked me if I knew what his BEST memory of the farm will be one day? I replied “No”? and he said: “My BEST memory will be that this is where I asked you to be my wife”…he reached into his pocket, opened a small little box that revealed my beautiful ring and asked me to “spend forever” with him. I was speechless, bursting with excitement and shock, crying and laughing at the same time. What an amazingly unforgettable moment this was in both of our lives…gives me goosebumps every time I talk about it!!!

I had my dress custom made by Clare Barlow at Bridal Flair, I knew I wanted “something different” that would fit in with our classic and timeless themed wedding. I fell in love with a red carpet dress worn by Halle Berry, and luckily Clare loved that it wasn’t traditionally bridal!  What I *L*O*V*E*D* about my dress was the way that it flowed at the bottom, the 2-tone colours of cream that gave an even more vintage feel to it as well as the diamante band around my waist (just to add some sparkle)! But most of all…my dress was so unbelievably comfortable!  I wore custom earrings, and a bracelet Tiaan has made to match and given me on the wedding morning.  A friend added pink & red vinyl hearts to my shoes which made them super cute!  I went for classic vintage hair & makeup, curls pinned over one shoulder and lash extensions, nude eyes and red lips!

My bridesmaids looked sexy, modern and elegantly timeless at the same time in their soft cream and silver beaded short dresses they wore from Jenni Button. They were very sparkly, so they wore a neutral belt and shoes to break it up.  Their hair was done up in different plaited styles. It looked so beautiful with their dress because the dress wasn’t revealing at the top at all. For their make-up we decided on a smoky eye and nude lips…they looked absolutely gorgeous!!!  The groomsmen wor black suits & ties, and Tiaan stood out in his charcoal suit. I wanted the groomsmen & groom to look like the men in those old black & white movies (lol) where they wore a suit on a daily basis and it made them look super sleek and casual at the same time.

Join us this afternoon for all the rustic details in Part Two!
