A Wizard of Oz Wedding in Idaho

A Wizard of Oz Wedding in Idaho

Happy international Saturday :-)

Today we head to Idaho in the US, for the gorgeous wedding day of Samantha and Kevin. Samantha and Kevin married alone in an orchard, with touches that were inspired by the Wizard of Oz.

I so love the red and blues used throughout the decor, the basket of blooms and the cake table. Such a beautiful day.

Thanks so much to JKB Young Photography for sharing their images via Two Bright Lights. Here is what event planners Lady Blue had to say about the day;

“I was quite excited with the concept of this wedding. We chose to take the “there’s no place like home” approach and make it a rustic, red barn farmhouse wedding, like the “happily ever after” of the Wizard of Oz story. Sam’s dress, by Jonche & Co, was a knee-length white eyelet lace dress with a sweet beaded lace jacket (specifically designed to match Dorothy’s original silhouette) and blue gingham petticoat. She chose an updo that was twisted on the sides to be reminiscent of Dorothy’s braids and finished it off with stunning red shoes and a custom hairpiece, also by Jonche & Co.

Kevin was trickier, but his homage to the film came in the form of scotty terrier cufflinks. In the flowers, Shoots Floral focused on red poppies, red ranunculus, light blue delphinium and wheat. I was quite delighted with the idea of putting Sam’s bridal bouquet in a basket, not unlike the one Dorothy carried around in the film.

The ceremony was intimate in a orchard (a serendipitous find as we wanted to include the idea of the enchanted apple trees somehow). The reception mirrored this intimate feel. The decision was made to opt for picnic-style table setups, where the food was laid out in baskets on each table. Not only did this take care of table decor, but was also a really lovely, budget-friendly option for catering.”

From the bride, Samantha: “I could not be more pleased with how our wedding turned out. My photographer and Event Designer perfectly portrayed the rustic romantic touch and that made the wedding so perfect. The wizard of oz has always been one of my favorite films, so I was so excited to make it apart of the day.

My favourite part was the ceremony and the excitement and spirit the photographer had the hold time. It made for a fun perfect evening!”

Oh so lovely. Thanks so much for sharing guys XOXO Lou
