Inspiration for a Beach Wedding in Croatia

Inspiration for a Beach Wedding in Croatia

via

We are coming down from a pretty amazing day yesterday. It’s incredible how much planning and preparation goes into a destination wedding, and how even a 4 day event goes by so quickly. Luckily for us, we have one more night at Amy and Gabes wedding venue to enjoy both their company and that of our families and friends. One of the European wedding destinations they had on their short list before deciding to host their nuptials in the States was Croatia. They holidayed there and fell in love with the place so I thought todays post would be quite apt, given the week that is in it. The goodness coming your way is all thanks to Sarah Falugo and Pocketful of Dreams and together, they dreamt up this beautiful bohemian beach wedding in Croatia and I just love how they approached it. If this shoot doesn’t make you want to jet off to Croatia on the next available plane, then I’m not sure what will!

Take a deep breath… look at this for a view.

The sort of couple Sarah and Vikki had in mind for this inspiration shoot was a free-spirited, bohemian bride and groom, so madly in love that they elope and have a very spontaneous wedding. I particularly love their idea of a picnic by the water, it’s incredibly romantic and completely achievable so all of you brides and grooms thinking of eloping,  you should take note as this look is very simple to recreate.

The ladies used natural, weathered wood laid out on the rocks to create a very informal, rustic table. An assortment of cushions around the table added comfort and a trip to the local market proved very fruitful indeed. Fresh figs, capers and plums along with lemons and freshly baked bread bread presented them with a beautiful colour palette of yellows and purples. A few vintage finds such as golden goblets, ivory handled cutlery and wocen goods from Rowen and Wren added to the look.

As well as olive trees, Croatia is home to fields of  lavender and Sarah and Vikki chose to use it as a visual motif throughout the inspiration shoot. It also worked well with the natural palette. A beautiful lavender bouquet was made and wrapped in fabric and single lavender stems were added to ice cubes to add an extra bit of special. You might remember us mentioning a few weeks ago in our Croatian Wedding Traditions post that rosemary is traditionally given to guests as a sign of welcome, so we were especially pleased that the girls chose to pay homage to the tradition by adding sprigs of rosemary to the table setting design.

I could sit there all day and night quite happily myself and actually can’t think of anything more romantic than a picnic for a wedding feast made for two. Thanks to the dream ladies behind all this beautiful. Be sure to check out the rest of their work!
