We hope you’ve been loving all the pretty fall, farm wedding inspiration we’ve been sharing this week at GWS! This stunning shoot by Clayton Austin is filled to the brim with laid-back, but beautiful details, perfect for incorporating into an intimate farm or backyard garden wedding. Set amidst the rustic, elegant outdoor space at the Dana-Powers House in Nipomo, Ca, the team staged a super relaxed wedding day, where the couple would host their guests at their home and serve fresh fare straight from the garden. Here’s more about the shoot from Clayton:

I have always had an affection for for smaller intimate affairs. Our home has always been the anchor for evenings filled with good wine, delicious food, family, laughter, and love. I imagined a no-fuss occasion where the groom would make their cake and the bride would carry a bouquet of rosemary and herbs. I wanted the setting to feel comfortable and relaxed yet grounded and elegant at the same time…

The dress was found at a thrift store on Nantucket Island for only $60! Such a steal – it’s absolutely perfect!

From Corinne of Panacea Event Floral Design, I was completely inspired to head in a very “un-flower centric” direction. The focus was driven by our local farmers market offerings – produce that is in season right now. Bundles of deeply hued radishes and beets were incorporated atop lush beds of kale and rainbow Swiss chard, accented with some incredible purple globe artichokes. A few sumptuous heirloom tomatoes were tucked in and that set the tablescape. 

Smaller focal points were created with gatherings of old heirloom types of flowers such as the romantic nigella or “love-in-a-mist”, as it’s known to cottage gardeners. We pared the flowers with fresh herbs including mint, bay leaf and rosemary adding some rich smoke bush and lambs ear for texture and contrast, all gathered together in simple brown bags and tied with twine. The aroma was intoxicating!
