Dan & Jo’s ‘All Smiles’ Engagement Shoot

Morning Peeps!

It’s Friday! Whoop whoop! Hope you all have a good weekend planned.

I’m off to a Thai Spa in the New Forest with my Mum and Sisters and can’t wait! We’re going for a bit of a post wedding celebration and they’ve treated me to some lovely treatments. Bring on the de-stress facial and massage – just lovely!

To start of the weekend we have a lovely engagement shoot for you.

Dan and Jo came to their shoot full of energy, laughter and fun and that shines through their images. Captured by Caroline Hanox at South Farm near Roystone, Hertfordshire; Dan and Jo teased each other throughout the day and as a result Caroline produced some really natural and carefree photos.

How did you guys meet?

8 and half years ago, through friends of friends in Bar Casa (St Albans)

What was your first date like?

A Chinese meal

Who proposed and how?

Dan proposed on Christmas Day. I chose a beautiful handbag in October and knew he brought me this so when it came to Christmas Day I was super excited to open it (yes he wrapped it all up in its own bag) and inside was a small wrapped box, with me thinking it was earrings! Dan was very romantic, got on one knee – couldn’t quite get his words out but I got mmmmmmarry me??

When and where are you getting married?

We are getting married on New Year’s Eve this year at the beautiful South Farm in Royston. As my surname is Woods and Dan’s is Branch we are having a bit of a theme with trees, twigs etc on the day. Dan and I wanted a celebration with all our family and friends and as we knew we wanted a winter wedding we thought NYE would be a perfect day for us (and to party!).

What do you both consider is an important element for your big day?

Its hard to pin point one thing but we would say family and friends enjoying themselves, Dan and I will have a good time wherever we are but we are keen to make sure everyone will also be having a good party on NYE!! I would also add the photography is also very important to capture the full day.

Tell us a little about the engagement shoot and photographer you’ve chosen

We have chosen to have our pictures taken by the lovely Caroline Hancox. Initially we looked at her website and loved her pictures, however it was after meeting Caroline that we knew we had made the right decision. We organised an evening at South Farm in July to capture some outdoor shots of South Farm for our engagement pictures (as a winter wedding we thought it would make sense to some in case we couldn’t get out on the day),  however this happened to be the one day we had awful thunderstorms!! Having your pictures taken can feel a little awkward and uncomfortable to start with, however Caroline put us both at ease and was very relaxing to be around. She advised on how and where to stand, but yet also happily let us do our own thing and did not feel in the way – to the point where we actually forgot sometimes she was taking pictures and caught us out!! We are both looking forward to the big day and we have Caroline right through to midnight to capture a full day and evening of our special day.

Big shout out to Dan and Jo for sharing your engagement shoot with us. It was a pleasure to blog and Jo – your smile is so infectious! Can’t wait to see pictures of your New Years Eve wedding!!!

Big Love
