A private estate in Byron Bay became the perfect venue for Jess and Doug's honest, warm and joyous wedding celebration. Peppered with beautiful details and memorable moments, their day was a true reflection of their love for each other and their zest for life.

"We were in New York for Christmas when he proposed," says Jess. "We had spent so much on the trip that we decided not to buy each other Christmas presents but he told me he had which is when he asked me to close my eyes. When I opened them he was kneeling beside me and said: 'Baby, will you be my wife?' I couldn't comprehend it at first but then I saw the ring, started crying and said 'Yes!'"

Upon returning home they began planning their beautiful wedding. "I don't think I ever really picked a theme or style; I just incorporated all of the elements that we both love. Mainly I was inspired by things that were romantic," says Jess. She embraced a colour palette of dusty pink, gold and cream; classic and feminine tones that were also earthy, ideal for the location.

At 2pm on their wedding day, Jess and her bridesmaids made their way into the garden where Doug and his groomsmen were waiting under a beautiful big mango tree. Jess wore a gorgeous mermaid-style gown featuring a sweetheart neckline; her maids wore different gowns in a variety of shades to suit the colour scheme - they looked divine! Unstructured bouquets became the perfect finishing touch.

Once wed Jess and Doug celebrated with their guests in a gorgeous marquee, decorated by the stylists from Sugar and Spice Events. "We wanted our guests to feel like they were at a family gathering so we had three long banquet tables and one bridal table; allowing guests to mingle and move around," says Jess.

Dusty pink striped linen lined the tables and Sugar and Spice created beautiful place settings with gold charger plates, bespoke napkins, white and gold candles, chandeliers and an abundance of blooms suspended from the ceiling.

Jess and Doug admit that the entire day was perfect in every way. "We are so grateful to everyone who celebrated with us, who made us feel so special and loved. It really was the best day of our lives," says Jess.
