Bridal Hairstyle Step by Step: Glam Textured Messy Bun

via

This bridal hairstyle makes elegance look effortless. The soft style gives a natural look whilst still looking 'done'. Lianne Claire of Dream Reflection shows us how easy it is to do it yourself at home...

1. Prep hair with sea salt spray (I am loving MUK), spritzing throughout randomly - focusing on the ends of the hair so as to not make the roots too heavy with product

2. Blast the product dry into your hair with blowdryer (no nozzle)

3. Using a ghd, curl hair all over and make sure that the front and crown are rolled up and under to create as much volume as possible.

4. Spritz with hair spray if it's feeling too soft and slippery. This will help hold the shape of the curl also. Brush through hair with a wide tooth comb or cushion brush (Mason Pearson rules here!) to fluff the hair out and create more volume.

5. Section the hair from ear to ear and clip the top section out of the way. Using a small rubber band, tie the remaining bottom section into a low pony tail

6. Tease the ponytail in sections with a comb or brush to create a messy texture, but try to keep the shape of the curl by not going too crazy!

7. Split the pony into two and loosely twist and gather around the band to create a loose bun, you can pull bits out here or rub the hairs between your fingers to create more grit on any softer pieces (some spilt milk on your fingers enhances this also!). Secure all around the bun with bobby pins to make sure it is tight enough to stay in place. Aim the ends in towards the centre of the bun.

8. Unclip top section of hair and take a section at the hairline and tease behind to create some volume, there should be about an inch of teased area at the roots.

TIP: I love to use Spilt Milk texturizing powder after I have teased each section from the hairline to the crown area to create more volume and that texture that everyone loves! For a quick video demo click here.

9. Your hair will be hanging over your face like cousin it by this stage, so flip it all back and smooth the top layer with your soft brush and brush into desired shape at the crown as well as the sides

10. Twist the top section around the bun loosely if long enough, otherwise you can split it into two down the middle and cross each section over either side of the bun. Pin to secure around the bun

11. Holding the hair back on top of the bun, you can pull out some little wispy bits around your face to your liking

12. When you are happy with the shape and wispy bits, give it all a quick spritz of hairspray. For extra texture you can dust some more spilt milk onto the flatter areas and rub with fingers to volumise!

Ta-da!
