Blue & Grey Rustic Farm Wedding in Lincolnshire | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Jenny and Oliver planned the majority of their September wedding from Australia, which I imagine was no mean feat. They chose Brills Farm, Lincolnshire to hold their marquee reception nestled in the pretty landscape.

They wanted a rustic mismatched feel to their wedding with a chic blue, grey and cream colour scheme. There were bountiful hydrangeas and pretty florals which decorated the church and reception.

Jenny looked beautiful in lace with cathedral length veil, while Oliver had a custom made suit by Jack Bunneys. Such a stylish pair.

Thanks so much to the wonderful Red on Blonde Photography for sharing their imagery with us today.

Back in Aug 2011 on Jen's birthday in Sydney. We were living there at the time and Oli took me up the Sydney Harbour Bridge as a surprise and proposed at the top. He had to smuggle the ring up on a special ERD (engagement ring device!) which the bridge staff provide as not even hair grips are allowed up for fear of it falling on the traffic below!

The Vision for the Day... Traditional but relaxed - rustic / country look - not overly matched! I didn't want to be a bride becoming obsessed with matching colours of every last detail. I think I still did slightly!

Budget... Brills Farm, Norton Disney. In the Lincolnshire countryside. It's a family home and working farm. It's a beautiful spot on a hill with views over the countryside. Great as meant Sophie our caterer could do all the food from her kitchen.

We had a church wedding and Worksop Priory Church Choir provided the music - led by Michael Overbury. It was wonderful as the church is large and we wanted the hymns to be sung with lots of gusto and to fill the church so the choir really helped with this. The choir also did some solos such as Ave Maria and Panis Angelicus which made the service very special.

The Flowers... We had blue hydrangeas, white roses, blue thistles, gyp and some eucalyptus which fitted with the colour scheme of cream, grey and blue. One of my favourite details was the bridesmaids 'bouquets' which were actually little clutch bags filled with flowers - when I first visited the florist they were doing something similar for another bride and I loved the idea. We had the Arbour Florists in Lincoln do the bouquets and button holes etc , my mum and some ladies from the Church do the church flowers and a friend of the caterer Beverley Hawthorne did the marquee flowers.

Advice for Other Couples... However much you plan there will always be a whole heap of things that can only be done in the week or 2 leading up to the wedding. My advice would be to outsource as much as you can during your preparations - friends / bridesmaids / groomsmen will offer to help - take them up on it as far as you can so that you are not the only one controlling everything leading up to the big day (potentially stressful!)
