It was a mutual friend and a combined love for physical activity that set into motion Kimberly and Graham's relationship. For Graham, their joint affinity for snowboarding planted the seed for the perfect proposal idea. After planning a trip to Banff, Graham brought Kimberly to Sunshine Village, a popular ski resort and the first place the couple went snowboarding together.

Against the backdrop of Banff's mountain scenery, Graham popped the question to an unsuspecting Kimberly. "His words were as beautiful as the surrounding scenery," recalls Kimberly. "Afterward, we shared a small bottle of champagne in the glistening snow before snowboarding down to the chalet to phone family and friends to let them know the good news."

Kimberly Rae Sass and Graham Leigh Matsalla, June 9, 2012, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

For their June wedding, the couple wanted to incorporate a classic feel into their Ukrainian ceremony, electing to have a string quartet for their nuptials at Saskatoon's Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. Their reception was held at nearby Radisson Saskatoon, where the couple opted for rich blue and violet accents, stunning floral arrangements, traditional Ukrainian fare and a delicious dessert table.

Graham says he relished in their introduction as husband and wife during the reception, where they walked out to AWOLNATION's "Sail." "We were rocking out to our favourite 'pump up' jam," jokes Graham. "Our arms were up like we just scored the winning goal of a gold medal game!"

Though they admit it was initially difficult to find the right song for their first dance, the couple decided on Alexi Murdoch's "All of My Days." "It reminds us of each other," says Kimberly of the romantic acoustic ballad. "It was an obvious choice once we picked it."
