Linh and Daniel's Romantic Sydney Engagement Photos

As a romantic by nature (obviously, seeing as I write this blog) this shoot by Jessica Ruisan - Silk Truffle Photography made me smile. It's simply natural, it's romantic and it's all about Linh and Daniel and their love for each other.

Linh tells the story of how they first met. "We met through work. Daniel and I are both doctors and we met when we had a mutual patient. I had just started working as a doctor and Daniel was more experienced than I. He teased me, telling me that he had better oversee the care of this particular patient to make sure I was treating him correctly. It was through the mutual care of this patient that our friendship blossomed. Not long after several corridor and stair well coincident meetings did we start lunching together and soon after, dating! It was quite a whirlwind romance!"

"We love that we have the same goals in life. That while we value and are dedicated to our careers as professionals, we always strive to nurture our relationship. We love that we don't need anything more than each other's company to feel fulfilled and happy. We love that we love each other's family; that we nurture each other in our own ways. We love that we always seem to reach the same stage in life at the same time."

Of the proposal, Linh remembers, "It was the day before my birthday - 3 days before we were due to go on our annual trip overseas - that time, to Europe - Paris, Nice, Venice, Rome! Daniel was insistent that we celebrate my birthday and that we take some time off work and drive to the Hunter Valley for the night. He had been unusually busy at work in the lead up but he seemed more stressed than usual about getting to the Hunter in good time.

We had a great time in a private lodge he had booked for us - he even cooked me an amazing breakfast - all under the facade that it was my birthday. On the morning we were due to drive back to Sydney, we visited our favourite vineyard. He began acting very unusual but I resigned this to Daniel just being Daniel. He insisted we sit in the vineyard after our wine tasting to 'sober' up. I protested as I do but finally gave in and am very glad that I did! He pulled a square box out of his pocket and proposed. I was dumbfounded as I had absolutely no suspicions that he was even looking for a ring.

We hadn't even discussed marriage much and I was so shocked I laughed instead of replying! Of course, when I came out of my bewildered daze for long enough, I was presented with a ring that was more stunning than that in my dreams! Best thing about it was that he chose the perfect setting and cut - despite my never having mentioned to him or anyone else what cut I had always wanted. To top this off he had designed the ring himself! He is an absolute jackpot! He planned it so well that we were able to drop by my parents so that I could share my amazing news with my thrilled family. The cherry on top was that he has also made a reservation at Quay. It was the most magical time in my life. 3 days after our engagement, we landed in Paris and the magic continues."

Of their engagement photographs, Linh tells, "We wanted something that reflected our style and our relationship. We wanted it to look magical, romantic, out of this world, almost heavenly and pure, all the while being sleek, elegant, timeless and classy. The time of day that we had the shoot created a feeling of being out of this world and heavenly. It was set amongst nature, reflecting the purity and simplicity of our feelings for each other.

In the first engagement shoot, Daniel chose a chequered blue bow tie and I a ballerina inspired tulle dress with white angel wings. We chose this as it reflected both our love of clothes and our fun nature. In the second shoot we chose a more sophisticated elegance for our clothes and this was in the setting of old sandstone buildings - reflective of our love of Elizabethan, heritage and vintage style."
