Traditionally, as the rhyme goes, a bride should include 'something blue' as part of her wedding attire. Not so for Zoe who married her beau Mike at the Andaz Hotel in London last year. Instead the colour red holds special significance for the pair - a nod to their early dating days - and it was this hue that they included in select areas of their wedding decor including Zoe's exquisite pair of Louboutins.

I know! I'm positively green with envy right now.

I'm also seriously lusting after Zoe and Mike's cake extravaganza which they lovingly scattered along the centrepiece in the 1901 restaurant for their guests to dine upon. Check out the chocolate cake....!

Lastly serious legend points go to Zoe's dad for styling Zoe's hair on her big day. I love the fact that the pair of them spent some treasured moments together on the morning of the big day. Don't you think Zoe's hair looks absolutely blinking sublime...

Zoe The Bride:We were married at the Andaz Hotel, London in the Bishopsgate room. Our drinks reception and canapés were served in the atrium and the wedding breakfast/evening reception was hosted in the 1901 restaurant. We loved the venue because it has so much variety and style; every corner takes you into a different era.

I knew that I wanted some lace on my dress but I was happy to be open minded with all dress types. All the bridal shops that I went to were extremely helpful, but Morgan Davies in Clerkenwell were first class. I chose a bespoke dress from Lusan Mandongus; his designs and use of lace is stunning and I knew as soon as I put it on that it was the one!

My jewellery was from a small boutique in Moorgate, they had some stunning pieces. I wanted something simple to complement the scalloped neckline of the dress. The only other accessory I had was for the evening; Mike bought me an amazing bag from our lovely friend, George Angelopoulos. He creates stunning, custom bags with beautiful leather and accessories and he made one especially for my wedding day!

I had to wear a pair of Louboutins, to fit in with our 'something red' - a nod to our early dating days. It was the first thing that I purchased and the bow on the dress matched them perfectly! I didn't take them off all day and even wore them to breakfast the next morning!

I was so pleased that my dad could do my hair for me. It was a special time being able to get ready with all my family. I wanted it to be relaxed and not do 'done' so we went for a side style with lots of curls and pearl pins. I was fortunate to be able to have several practices and be honest with him about what I did and didn't like. In the evening he took my hair out and swept it to the side, with a gorgeous clip I found in Accessorize.

We didn't want a theme or even a colour scheme, instead we asked our florist, Marianne, to go and get everything that caught my eye that would work with our relaxed vintage look with textured, unstructured arrangements. To make sure the flowers were in keeping with the stunning 1901 room, all the containers were vintage glass from her collection, cake-stands, clusters of little eclectic vases and jugs, with the focal point of the reception being the long top table dressed from end to end with glass vases.

There was only one stipulation, that Mike's buttonhole was 'something red' and there was a red flower in my bouquet, this was a personal touch from our dating days! The flowers in the bouquet and buttonholes included hydrangea, Amnesia roses, spray roses, English dahlia, snowberry, astilbe. They mixed in English foliages for added texture, especially in the bouquet. In fitting with the informal tone of the day, all the buttonholes and bouquets were different so that the aides could choose what they wanted.

Mike and his ushers got their suits made by Gresham Blake a tailor shop in Shoreditch. They wore bespoke grey three-piece suits paired with ties from Peckham Rye; Mike's was red, the ushers blue. I also bought Mike a vintage pocket watch with our wedding date inscribed on the back which meant ringing Gresham Blake and asking them to secretly put in a watch hole into the waistcoat!

The three bridesmaids were dressed in Dessy dresses from Les Trios Souers in Canary Wharf. I was pretty relaxed on the dresses and colours, as we had no colour theme it was up to the bridesmaids to choose either the same dress in different colours or different dresses in the same colour - luckily they all chose, and looked absolutely stunning in, the same dress & colour!

We looked at many wedding blogs (but mainly RMW!) and drew up a shortlist of weddings where we loved the photos. O&C Photography actually took the photos for two of the weddings we loved so we knew we had to meet them. We met them at the Andaz Hotel and showed them around the various spaces where we were going to have our wedding and it was clear from their ideas that they were the photographers for us. They were full of ideas and excitement about the wedding and we just clicked.

Then on the day they were brilliant. O&C fitted perfectly into the day, unobtrusive, relaxed and just great to have around. Some of our guests thought they were actually our friends who had brought their cameras with them!

The cakes, there were lots of cakes! How can you just choose one? We are both cake-mad and so we chose all our favourites in a variety of cupcakes, cheesecakes, cakes and tarts. All were on vintage cake stands in the centre of the room. We purchased them all from Beas of Bloomsbury who also provided boxes for the guests to take home any left overs!

Our photobooth was provided by Snaparazzi Photobooths. It meant we had a brilliant guest book with everyone's photos next to their messages and also meant our guests had fun playing dress up and competing to see how many people they could fit inside the booth!

To round off what had been a truly awesome day, we had the Wedding Smashers as DJs for the evening. Max and Lucy were brilliant DJs and played exactly what we wanted - an eclectic mix for pop and rock with the odd bit of cheese thrown in - they matched our tastes perfectly and even played a few Irish jigs to keep the family from Ireland happy! They kept everyone dancing into the early hours and we didn't want to stop

Karly at the Andaz was brilliant, the whole team at the venue ensured that it all went smoothly. The food was delicious and all the staff throughout the day were superb. The hotel itself is beautiful so we didn't feel we needed to decorate it too much; we just got them to put out lots of candles and obviously cover the centrepiece in the 1901 restaurant in cakes!
