The charm of a country wedding never goes out of style, especially in South Africa where country-style wedding venues can be found just outside bigger cities and towns as seen in this Turquoise & White Country Love Wedding, East London, which boasted endless bright country wedding ideas.

Along the outskirts of Johannesburg, Malcolm and Jannicke wed in country-style at The Hertford, a country-inspired Gauteng wedding venue situated oh-so close to the Cradle of Humankind!

Handmade fabric bunting, hay bales and chalkboard details galore added a trendy, yet timeless touch to their charming rustic country wedding. Laura Jane Photography was on hand to document their laid back country wedding. Take a look!

Modern Country Wedding Look

(Above) Modern Country Wedding Dress: Jannicke looked gorgeous in her lace back wedding dress ensemble. Her gown was accented with a beaded sash and she carried a luscious pink and green antique rose bouquet.

Malcolm & Jannike's Love Story

Their sweet love story: We met 6 and a half years before our wedding day. It was the day after it snowed in Jo'burg, and the Eskom blackouts were happening often. We had mutual friends, and eventually got chatting. When the power went out at the cafe, he kissed me. A few days later I was in hospital after an operation, and Malcolm had sent a massive bouquet of flowers with balloons... That's when he stole my heart!

The Tale Of Their Proposal

Jannicke shares their tale of Malcolm's proposal in the Big Apple: We had booked a trip to Canada, and decided to stop over in New York for a week... It was our 5 year anniversary that week, so we went for a lovely lunch at The Boathouse in Central Park, which Malcolm had booked many months before. We brought a bottle of special wine with to celebrate our anniversary (it had travelled with us to the Cape, Dullstroom and a few weekends away, but we wanted to share it together at a special occasion. After a lovely lunch, and some good wine, he got down on his knee. The best memories!

Modern Country Wedding Reception

DIY Modern Country Wedding Floral Decor: The couple and their loved ones help to arrange the floral decor on their wedding tables. Empty glass jars and country-inspired vases housed mini bunches of roses and Baby's Breath.

• The imperfections are what makes the day perfect. Involve friends and family to help out, get advice from other brides and book your suppliers early. All the rest will fall into place.... And just ENJOY the day, it goes by so fast.
• Make sure your venue fee includes as much as possible: Our venue was fantastic in keeping the costs down. We had been to many venues, which charged extra for chapel hire, forks, linens, chair covers, food etc. By the time we looked at the final quotes, we were amazed at how much we needed to pay (before the dress and supplier costs). Our venue's costs included everything - we only paid for food.
• Get creative with DIY decor - it ends up being really fun! I used free printables from websites, and made things such as table numbers. My mom made the bunting, my husband picked up the hay bales from an old supplier, we did the flowers ourselves and we had a few rental items such as table runners, candelabras and vases. I went to Consol and bought jars for flowers and candles.
