Happy Valentine's Day lovelies! Have you received a card from a secret admirer? Or a wonderful gift from your fiancé perhaps?! As my gift to you today I'm sharing this cute-as-candy styled shoot which I created last year. It's the perfect mix of saccharin-sweet inspiration and retro fun to sweeten up your V-Day!

When Sarah from Creative Candi approached me last Spring to style a series of images for her Popcorn Buffets, I immediately had a style in mind. The pretty pastel 'Carousel' board I created last year for my blog had instantly proved popular with brides, and its sweet carnival-inspired theme fitted perfectly with the idea of a popcorn buffet. With her soft, contemporary style, Fiona Kelly was the perfect choice as photographer on this shoot. Her images are fun and fresh with a pretty touch.

Using candy stripes and a pink, yellow and blue palette I created a modern scheme filled with fun details, cute colours and a subtle retro vibe. A candy-stripe backdrop instantly creates a focal point for the buffet, while glass jars overflow with sweet and savoury popcorn. A carnival-inspired menu, designed by White Knot, lets guests know the delicious range of flavours on offer. Candy striped cups and bags mean guests can take some home as a midnight snack, and mini milk bottles filled with strawberry milkshake offer them a nostalgic treat! To add some pretty touches, I used these gorgeous paper pompoms and pastel coloured bunting from Pretty Little Party Shop, and pretty arrangements of fresh spring flowers.

Our bride, Emma, is styled with a sweet fifties-inspired tea-length dress from Madeline Isaac-James at No. 10 Bridal , which we all know is the ideal choice for showing off those pretty shoes! Her hair and makeup, by Lisa Hancox paid homage to the classic style of the 50's with bright pink lips adding a fun, modern twist. A bow headband and clutch bag from Blackbirds Pearl are the perfect mix of modern and retro styles.

Recreating this fresh & fun look at your wedding, bridal shower or even Valentines celebration is easy! As well as eating, popcorn is a cheap and fun way to add some fun decoration to your venue. Displayed in bowls outside your ceremony, it makes an eco-friendly, biodegradable (and delicious!) alternative to confetti. String onto fishing wire to make pretty garlands to hang around your venue, and fill giant balloons with a little popcorn and helium and tie with pretty pastel ribbons for pretty unique decorations!
