Vintage French Themed Wedding in Cheshire

My love of French weddings doesn't just extend to weddings in France, but also French inspired weddings across the world, especially when they from the UK. Today I have a wonderful real wedding to share with you to get you over hump day Wednesday, the vintage French Themed Wedding in Cheshire of Amy and James, captured by Jo Bradbury Photography.

A lover of French style, once the couple were engaged Amy knew that she wanted to include this as theme for their wedding which is reflected in the styling. With a nod to the Pantone colour of the year radiant orchid, the colour palette includes tones of purples set against accents of lace and pearls

Bride Amy takes us through their love story and their wedding day: " Me and James meet at University in Liverpool. I was on a Dance course whilst James was studying Physical Education. We first met in the laundrette where our paths seemed to cross on a number of occasions! James finally built up the courage to invite me for dinner and cooked a Spaghetti Bolognaise.

Little did I know the he was cooking for another 20 students... So I quickly escaped and our paths didn't cross for another 3 years. Once University was over we met again when we were both employed by the University to teach at the Sports and Dance Camps. Here we started our relationship and moved in together after 6 months. We both knew straight away that we had found the person that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with. After 6 years of living together James proposed to me at a Spa Day that I was having for my birthday. He organised everything with my sister and friend; from treatments to champagne and he even booked us a night's stay. It was such a shock when I walked into the hotel room to find him on one knee. I said yes and we started planning our day straight away; picking the date within 4 weeks of our engagement. Planning the wedding was much less stressful than we thought it would be. Many of our friends had yet to be married and therefore we did not have a vision to compare to - so there was no right or wrong ways to go about planning our perfect day; we just wanted a wedding to suit us. We decided quickly that we would not have a top table and instead had our groomsman and bridesmaid with us; guests commented on the relaxed atmosphere of the day which they enjoyed. When deciding on the venue, we had searched various websites and Mottram Hall, Prestbury, Cheshire was a venue that really stood out to us. When we visited we knew it was perfect, with sweeping lawns, amazing entrance driveway and a classic vintage interior design, it was just what I had dreamt of! With wanting a French vintage theme the colour schemes and pretty setting was perfect. Being the thorough organiser that I am we did go to look around other venues, but nothing matched up to the grandeur of Mottram. We knew that we wanted a small personal wedding with our close family and friends. So we chose a guest list of 60 people and decided we would have an adult only wedding; we wanted parents to have fun and let their hair down. I absolutely love the French vintage style, with this being the main theme for the decoration in our bedroom. I also love lace and pearls and wanted them to be the main feature at the wedding. When we started to visit the wedding fayres we met Victoria from 'Hearts and Flowers' who was absolutely lovely and had amazing ideas of how to get our theme across through the flowers and room/table dressing. We booked her straight away and when visiting her shop in Denton we knew we had made the right choice; especially as her window was decorated in lace and pearls. I highly recommend Victoria who made our dream wedding a reality; everything she did from the flowers and centre pieces to the chair covers fit our theme so perfectly. Our guests and the hotel wedding team were so impressed with the decorations and how the theme linked so well. As soon as I walked into Lulu Browns Whalley, I knew this would be where I would buy my wedding dress! The girls were so helpful and their gowns were to die for. With our theme being pearls and lace, I really thought I would go for a fitted lace dress. But I fell in love with a John Alexander, A-line gown, with pearl detail around the waist line. It was simple but perfect, I felt like a real bride. The seamstress added pearl and floral buttons down the back of the dress to add a vintage feel, which made it feel individual to me. The grooms attire and ushers came from Next. Next do some amazing suits at amazing prices. Thankfully James' parents paid for all the suits which saved us a bit of money. Before the wedding, everybody kept telling us 'make sure you enjoy every moment', and that is exactly what we did. Throughout the day, we would step back and take in everything that was happening. There were many memorable moments during the day. In the morning whilst getting ready getting ready with my Bridesmaids they repeatedly asked me 'are you getting nervous yet?' and I would always answer 'no, just excited'. The only time I was worried was when I got to the front of the aisle and I saw James' red blotchy face from him over heating and sweating!! I think seeing me there calmed him down and fortunately he had his back to the videographer and photographer. The only other mishap was when we had a quick practice for our first dance between the ceremony and evening celebration. As a Dance Teacher, everyone seemed to expect a choreographed first dance. So we did prepare a simple routine that was perfect, except for tripping over my train a few times."

If you are planning a French styled wedding, how are you looking to include a little French amour into your wedding day?
