Elegant Manor House Wedding with a Paloma Blanca Dress in Surrey | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

I love featuring a couple's wedding day after having featured their engagement shoot; following their story and seeing how their wedding day turned out is such an honour. Lucy and Matt held their engagement shoot at the Natural History Museum and today I am featuring their wedding. YAY.

WWW readers Lucy and Matt married on the 21 st September 2013 at the manor house setting of Smallfield Place, Surrey. They had an elegant timeless feel to their wedding, with a touch of blue and grey.

Lucy made the gorgeous wedding cake herself, the bridesmaids wore Coast, there were pretty florals and chic stationery.

Lucy wore a Paloma Blanca dress, a veil from The Couture Veil and shoes by Rachel Simpson while Matt donned a dapper grey suit by Austin Reed. So much style.

Thanks so very much to the amazing Babb Photo for sharing her photographs with us.

The Venue... Smallfield Place in Surrey. An absolutely stunning little manor house that we rented for the weekend. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to find it, it was a hidden gem and nothing else would have done once we'd seen it. We had both the ceremony and the reception there. It also had seven bedrooms so we were able to have close family with us from Friday to Sunday.

Finding the Dress... The dress was chosen in a weekend visit to the UK back in March. It was from Grace of Westcott, Surrey. It was one of the first dresses that I tried on, and I did visit a couple of other dress shops over the weekend, but nothing could match it. It was over budget needless to say.

Beautiful Bridesmaids... I had two bridesmaids, a friend from school and a friend from university. They wore dresses by Coast that are a soft grey colour that look very different in different lights! The shoes were simple nude courts.

The Flowers... The flowers were done by Jo Leslie at Josy Posy. We wanted something seasonal that would smell lovely as well as looking lovely, so there were plenty of herbs in the button holes and bouquets as well as eucalyptus, beautiful cream roses, and hydrangeas to carry through the vintage feel. There were flowers in vases along the fireplaces and window sills and a fantastic swag on the front door.

The Cake... I baked and decorated that cake myself, and I was very pleased with how it turned out. There was a fruit base and middle layer, and then a chocolate layer on top. I did it in stages starting a couple of months ahead of the wedding, so there wasn't too much stress at the last minute.

Your Photographer... We were lucky to find Laura Babb as our photographer. We did not want too many formal shots, but more of a narrative of the day and her style suited that perfectly. We had an engagement shoot in August, so by the time the big day came round, we knew what to expect and felt very relaxed - the beautiful photos speak for themselves.

Memorable Moments... Lucy: Watching from the bedroom window at the front of the house as all the guests were arriving; Standing just outside the ceremony room waiting for the music to start; all a bit of a happy blur after that. Matt: Lucy walking down the aisle towards me.

Advice for Other Couples... Book a venue you really love and everything else will be easy.
