When most of us think of wedding in Italy, we think sun, olive branches, a Tuscan countryside lined with Italian cypress trees, wine by the pool - all sorts of lovely summer things, right? Well.. what we are about to share with you today will give you an entirely different perspective, one we had not really considered before now but a picture just as ideal a scenario as the first: a winter wedding in Italy. Perhaps I'm partial to the ideal as I've just returned to a blistering cold Ireland after an 8 month stint chasing the sun around the world and well, I'm loving the cold weather right now! The idea of snuggling up by the fire with guests gathered around after a frosty portrait session in the woods is so appealing to me and even more so when abroad. Today's winter wedding in Italy inspiration comes to us from Valentina Oprandi Photography and is packed full of wonderful ideas. I'm particularly fond of those beautiful long lace sleeves.

"The idea for this winter wedding inspiration shoot came from Laura because she loves winter weddings and dreams about her own wedding in the winter season! Our idea was to create a magical atmosphere in an enchanted forest for a romantic winter wedding. With that in mind, we chose the woods as the location; it's the perfect place for an intimate ceremony and reception, amidst wild nature and the bare trees so typical in this season. All suppliers were really excited about this winter shoot each with their own creative twist creating something that seamlessly blended with our styling. Elena Taino created a romantic flower-arrangement, a bouquet of white roses, soft pink buttercups and thistle. We loved the centrepiece composed of these flowers together with twigs, astilbe and others flowers of the season. Laura created a beautiful and cosy table in the centre of the woods. She included some winter elements- details like lace and wool mixed with rustic and natural elements such as wood. She also had some DIY projects for decor elements on the table and adorned the candleholders with pink wool and ivory lace. The candlelight added to the magical atmosphere. Poesie Sposa, an Italian boutique, provided the stunning dress, a short length in dress of lace and silk organza with embroidered details, crocheted wool, slightly two-toned in white and cream. The deep v-neck back with buttons of lace and buttonholes was a real feature of this dress and it was actually hand made in Italy. Deborah Scaramuccia did the make up on our beautiful model. She chose a simple colour palette, grey and old rose for the eyes and natural for the lips. The look was smokey and fairytale-like. For the hair, the chosen style was very natural and framed with a beautiful floral wreath. Chiara was just stunning! Stationery was illustrated and designed by the talented Caratterino and was characterised by a mix of white and brown paper enhanced with gold prints and decorated with typical winter elements such as moose and bare branches. Finally, L'Oca Smemorata created a cake made with cheese cream and butter and used seasonal flowers for decoration and the green winter pine underneath just added that little bit of winter that we were lusting after."
