Chenel & Pieter's Blush & Grey Barn Wedding

Get your pinning fingers ready ladies, today's wedding is beyond gorgeous. With a pink & grey palette bride Chenel wanted to create a romantic day, but contrasted against their rustic farm venue, with industrial, distressed details, their wedding takes on a whole new style. Chenel calls it 'Deconstructed Elegance', a perfect description!

Every single part of their day was jam-packed with DIY details! Guests at the ceremony sat under a beautiful canopy made by the groom decorated with origami cranes, and sat upon fabric covered hay bales as they watched the couple exchange vows in the sunshine. The bridesmaids wore amazing ombré blush and grey dresses, and carried a single protea, while Chenel carried a soft blush bouquet of peonies. An a amazing spread of artisan breads, cheese and jams awaited hungry guests relaxing in the grounds before heading to the barn for dinner where tables were set with soft grey linen, local flowers and tall, elegant candlesticks. They celebrated with friends in their photobooth - complete with incredible DIY backdrop (I'd love to see more of you do this please!!). Before enjoying their romantic first dance a rainbow appeared, spreading love and light over the couple on their very beautiful day.

Photographer Louise Vorster deserves a special mention, I totally adore her fresh, contemporary style, she perfectly captured the romance of the day.

We met through mutual friends 9 years ago - My dress was Debra by Enzoani, I loved the lace and soft teal, when I tried it on, I just knew that was the dress, I was in love! My veil was from Enzoani as well, it had a vintage feel and the lace was beautiful. My earrings were a gift from Pieter 6 Years ago, I kept them for a special occasion, they had loads of sentiment and were just perfect. I wanted my hair in a lose bun but still something pretty. My bridesmaids were all dressed in the prettiest blush and graphite maxi dresses, Pieter and his groomsmen was dressed in graphite and dove gray suits to match our wedding colours. Pieter is 4 years older than me and always asked me if I had an older sister he could date! Two years later we started dating. He surprised me with a romantic picnic at Hartebeespoortdam's cable cars, and had a special place set out on the top of the mountain, with a picnic basket and champagne it was so romantic. We got married in Rustenburg at the Tarentaal Theater, we just loved the relaxed atmosphere and it was perfect for our fun farm wedding. I definitely most of my inspiration on the internet, we wanted something fun and different and I am the ultimate DIY girl! Pinterest, The Pretty Blog and b.loved were definitely my top 3, but pretty much anywhere I could see a real wedding! Our colours were blush, graphite and dove grey, I wanted something soft and romantic, but deconstructed elegance. We pretty much made everything ourselves (with help from my bridesmaids' and family) from the wedding stationery to the cake! We wanted market flower-style arrangements, so I chose the flowers I love and just did something fun! I used peonies, hydrangea, protea, red & pink roses and lisianthus. photographer We booked Louise Vorster Photography. She captures thing so uniquely and I love her style. favourite moment Walking down the aisle and knowing that this is the moment I have been waiting for so long. first dance Christina Perri - A Thousand Years advice Do everything your heart desires! Don't look back and think "aaah I still wanted to do this or make that''
