Rustic Bright Autumn Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Happy Monday lovelies, I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to a week full of wedding inspiration here at WWW. This morning I have the nuptials of Cathryn and Daniel to share with you.

Cathryn and Daniel had a rustic Autumnal wedding full of bright colours and love.

They chose purple as their primary colour, with striking lighting and the bridesmaids in purple dresses with colour pop citrus bouquets. They had some super lovely touches, from the amazing blackboard backdrop to the log centrepieces and hessian table runners.

Cathryn wore a chic lace dress by Romantica of Devon while Daniel had a grey tweed suit and custom made shirt. Beautiful.

Thanks so much to the wonderful Lydia Stamps for sharing her images with us today.

The Proposal... After having got together on 9 th November 2011 we went away to a lovely village called Hemyock in Devon for our 1 year anniversary. After a little stop at Stourhead Gardens we arrived at our very cute cottage. Daniel had had the cottage decorated with a picnic pre-prepared for us. Unfortunately after making a little slip up Daniel had to postpone the proposal a little longer, meaning that we had to have a second dinner. After dinner Daniel popped upstairs to "get his phone", he came back downstairs and put some cheesy music on, he then proceeded to unbutton his shirt to reveal a t-shirt with some writing on. 4 t-shirts later he was on one knee with a ring stretched out towards me. I said "go on then".

We ended up pulling in as many favours as possible and along with finding deals and doing a lot of work ourselves we came in at around £11,500 (including honeymoon in the UK).

Originally we wanted a barn for our reception, but we soon learnt that this was not going to be very cost effective, and so after much hunting found a good sized village hall that we thought we might be able to decorate in the way we had wanted.

Not being a girly girl I struggled with accessories and just decided that I should stick to my own personality and keep it simple, and so I found bargain shoes in a high st shop and a veil from a small bridal shop. My dress was so beautiful that it did not really need anything else to enhance it.

I walked down the aisle to Gabrielle Aplin's 'Home' and we walked out to Hall & Oates' 'You Make My Dreams Come True'.

I saw a chalkboard photo backdrop in a wedding magazine and wanted it as we had planned on doing our own photo booth. The difficult thing was making it, so we asked our friends to take on the job, who designed and created the most amazing backdrop from kitchen lino and chalk markers, probably my most favourite detail of the day.

We did all out own nametags with stamps, sharpies and parcel tags. To accompany these we gave everyone sunflower seed packets, which we designed and made ourselves.

Arranging the seating plan was as hard as we thought it would be. Daniel took a lead on this as he is the more decisive person in the relationship but we were very happy with the final plan. I designed and made the plan myself from a corkboard, hessian, ribbon and pegs.

We are very lucky to have friends at home, on the Isle of Wight, who are very musically talented. We asked them to create a band for the wedding, which they did and they were great! Putting a funky twist on current songs, they had everyone on the dance floor.

We wanted the flower arrangements on the table to be rustic. We had a friend cut up some logs and used jam jars as vases. Daniels mum and auntie are to thank for these lovely displays. We had a friend make the table number flags.

Delegate to family and friends, people are always happy to help at weddings, they love it!

Also just enjoy the day, don't stress about the minor issues, enjoy being with all your favourite people and marrying the person you love. The day will fly by!
