Natural Stylish Summer Tea Party Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Adam and Emily had a vision of a nature inspired summer tea party wedding which was full of style. They had fun entertainment, which included falconry and archery for guests.

Their whole day was based outdoors at the gorgeous Maunsel House, Somerset, with afternoon tea for their wedding meal out in the open. There were gorgeous blooms, home made wedding rings by goldsmith Emily and the prettiest cake.

Thanks so much to Clare West for sharing her super lovely photographs with us.

The Vision for the Day... We wanted a day to remember, full of all the people we cared the most about and lots of time to spend with them. We imagined a stylish summer tea party, inspired by so that's what we tried to create. I also love nature and elves and fairies and we wanted to bring elements of all these bits into different parts of the day but it was also important to keep it stylish and sophisticated.

We were married fairly early at 12.30pm and after the ceremony there was time for drinks and photo's before we all sat down for afternoon tea. Maunsel House has a lovely pergola and as the weather was really beautiful we all ate outside.

The Planning Process... We had 18 months to plan our big day which seemed like a long time till there were only a few months left! (It's a little nerve wracking when you're still finishing your dress just days before!) We split the tasks so that I did most of the organising of the actual wedding and Adam planned our amazing Honeymoon.

The Venue... Maunsel House, North Newton Somerset. We wanted to pick a venue that we really loved rather than something just because it was close to home. As soon as we saw Maunsel we fell in love. From the sweeping avenue of trees leading up the house, the knight in shining armour in the entrance hall all the taxidermy and guns also the rabbit warren of secret bedrooms. It offers so many possibilities to have your day exactly as you want including having the ceremony and eating outside if the weathers good.

The Dress + Accessories... I designed my own bespoke dress and my mum handmade it for me. The main reason for doing this was that it meant I could have exactly the dress I wanted and I could also choose the material and detailing. We selected ivory silk Dupion because if it's beautiful colour and texture. The straps were silver lace and the last bit actually had to be sewn together once I was in the dress so that it would look perfect.

I'm a goldsmith and so designed and made both our wedding rings. I also designed and made my silver and diamond tiara. I wanted something delicate, slightly fairy like but mostly inspired by delicate leafy fronds.

We collected all our own vintage crockery for our afternoon tea, also all the cut glass for our sweets table. My dad has collected a lot of old and antique items that went perfectly with our day from all the little Victorian bottles for our flower displays to the large metal trunks we used to decorate the marquee with for the evening celebrations. It's amazing what you can do with a few simple props and some pamprus grass.

Memorable Moments... Walking down the aisle to Adam, and thinking how handsome he was! We had falconry and archery for the afternoon entertainment. It was hilarious when the birds were swooping through all our guests and everyone had to duck. Most important was being able to spend the day with everyone we cared about and having plenty of time to chat and enjoy all the different elements of the day.
