How to Choose a New Hair Color This Spring

via

The sun's starting to peek out, and suddenly everything seems a little bit brighter. It only seems natural you'd want your hair to follow suit. If you've been jonesing for a new, lighter hair color, we've got the scoop on the best trends this season straight from two amazing L'Oréal Professionnel artists, Jason Backe and Nancy Braun.

"The great thing about these trends is they are not shade-specific," says Backe. "Because they are not shade-specific, every woman can wear them." But still, making the right decision on hair color can be tough. Don't pull your hair out though - we'll break it down for you.

Root Shadow

Need to stretch out your hair appointments but worried about your roots? Don't you fret - this look is having its moment, Backe tells us. Whether you want a dramatic look or a subtle one is up to you, though.

Tone-on-Tone Beachy Highlights

Remember those streaky highlights from the '90s? Ew. We're not talking about those here. Envision the best sun-kissed highlights you can think of, and that's what we mean. Think Giselle's rich blond-on-blond face-framing highlights, says Braun. Balayage, the highlighting method where a stylist paints the colors onto the hair, provides a stunning effect that lightens and adds richness to your color.

Pops of Color

If you've been following us closely here at MDC, it's probably apparent to you that we love our hair chalk. Lucky for us, it's very on-trend for this season, says Braun. "Place a mid-band accent color for fun and drama," she suggests. Think Poppy Delevingne's streak of color near her neckline.
