It's been a good while since we looked at some of our own lovely venues here in Ireland, so today we've got three really gorgeous ones to showcase. These are beautiful, stately manors which can cater to medium to large celebrations inside, with larger weddings having the option of a marquee on their grounds. Get ready to be transported back in time..

Ancestral home of the High Kings of Leinster, Borris House is situated in county Carlow in the south east of the country. This is very impressive venue exuding an antique, stately charm with finely finished interior decor including lavish plasterwork dating form the 18th century. Borris House features a beautifully restored Georgian chapel for ceremonies, and also has several rooms within the house registered as civil ceremony areas. The Dining Room can hold intimate receptions of up to 70 while the Ballroom wing is available for larger parties of up to 180. Receptions larger than this are possible in an outdoor marquee.

Available for exclusive use for wedding parties over 70, Longueville House is located in county Cork. Th house has several approved civil ceremony rooms (to seat up to 70) as well as a good choice of churches within half an hour's drive. Receptions can be held indoors as follows: the Turner Conservatory can hold 76, the Presidents' Restaurant can hold 38 and the Turner Library can hold 16. All three rooms interconnect so can be used together to hold receptions of 130. Larger celebrations are possible in a marquee on the grounds. Up to 42 guests can be accommodated on-site, and one other bonus to Longueville House is the lack of venue hire fee for exclusive weddings held here.

Castel Oliver is a stately home constructed of local red sandstone in the Scottish Baronial style. Situated in the Ballyhours mountains of county Limerick in the southern part of Ireland, the castle is quite an imposing structure with battlements, turrets and a flag tower. The venue is available on an exclusive use basis for a minimum of two days. Celebrations of up to 120 guests can be held in the ballroom and larger weddings can be situated in a marquee on the grounds. There is accommodation for 16 guests on site and there is ample local accommodation for other guests nearby.
