Shoreditch Food Market Engagement | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

This afternoon I thought it time for a perfect little love story.

Rachel and Verron met at work and began dating when Rachel left to become a teacher. Verron planned the perfect proposal in Bruges, complete with rose petals and a custom made ring. Wow.

They chose to have their engagement shoot in Shoreditch, London with colourful backdrops and a brilliant food market. I just adore these images.

Thanks so very much to the brilliant Jonathan Ellis for sharing his photographs with us today.

He was extremely popular with all the ladies at work so I honestly assumed he was seeing at least one of them! We were good friends at work and over time we got to know each other more. I then left to become a teacher and we took it slow and started dating." "In 2011 I had an unfortunate accident at work. This has resulted in me now suffering from nerve damage and I now walk with crutches. Throughout it all he has been my rock. He has always been there for me no matter what and he loves me with or without the crutches. We booked our annual Easter trip and decided to go to Bruges. We were having a great break away from home seeing all the sites, strolling down the cobbled streets, enjoying freshly made waffles and the best hot chocolate we have ever had on this earth! We were in heaven. We stayed at an amazing Hotel right in the heart of Bruges; we were in close proximity to everything possible. We enjoyed lunches by the river, dinner in the centre and were having a great time. One night he said he had booked a private dinner for us at a small restaurant. We literally had the whole place to ourselves and enjoyed an amazing 5-course meal. We then went back to our hotel and I wanted to take some pictures in the hallway by an amazing chandelier. He said lets just go inside first as he needed to get something. I opened the door and there were rose petals all along the hallway in our room, all over the bed and in the bath as well as candles being lit and a bottle of champagne on the side. I said "aww this is so lovely, now can we go take our pictures?!" He replied by saying "You have an early birthday card, open it" I replied "okay but after we take our pictures outside!" We went back and forth for at least a minute! He raised his voice and said " For once in your life woman, listen to me!" I laughed and said okay. I didn't actually read the card as I really wanted to take some pictures. I turned around and saw him down on one knee. Honestly I started panicking and saying "Oh my goodness I'm not ready!" I then started to cry the whole way through his speech. He said "the card really says it all..." As you now know I didn't read the card! He then asked if I would marry him and of course I said yes! It was the most beautiful proposal although all I kept thinking was that my makeup was messed up, I'm not wearing a fabulous dress, my hair was not curled etc! But hey the ring made up for it all. He got it made by a private jeweller; needless to say I was a very happy woman." "For the shoot, we decided on Shoreditch as it was quirky, with little coffee shops, lovely buildings and restaurants, little vintage shops down cobbled streets which always remind us of our travels to beautiful cities. Shoreditch has a great food market throughout the day so we knew this would be a perfect location! We are big foodies and always love trying new things. Because of my accident it was somewhat challenging to be without my crutches but they were always very close by! We always made sure they were not in the shot! The plan for the day was just to be relaxed and be as natural as possible. It took a while for us to warm up and get used to the camera, however we became more relaxed throughout the day. My fiancé is always very weary of public affection so I kept trying to kiss him and he would start laughing! We were lucky that the sun came out on the day as throughout the week it had been raining. We ended the day at the food markets trying great savoury crepes and a big man burger!" "For our wedding we had loved a specific venue called Northbrook Park. We decided on the date May 2015 so would have more time to work on my ankle, and try to get down the aisle without crutches! We thought we had a lot of time so we would not need to plan that far in advance. We decided to call the venue to see if they had availability and to our amazement they were already booked up for that month! We were shocked, and my initial dream wedding was shattered!! We were still going to try and make it work with an alternate day however it was not working out. So we had to begin our wedding venue search again. We chose our top 4 venues and went to visit them. The one we chose was a quirky Grade 1 listed Country House. It was different, just the way we are and I knew straight away it was meant to be! We want to keep the venue a secret so everyone will be wowed on the day and enjoy a great weekend in the country. We have decided on a vintage theme, with soft pastel shades. As we are foodies and enjoy travelling and tasting all types of street food we would like to incorporate this into our wedding so people will get a feel of the things we love. We are very much looking forward to our day, it has been a long time coming and we are now getting in to the thick of planning! Next stop, a wedding dress!"

From Rachel... "We first met at work. I was new and needed to be trained as I had just come back from holiday and the team that I started with had already been trained. My team leader told me I would be trained by Verron. She said he's lovely and he's a great teacher. When I saw him I immediately thought he was handsome but in no way thought anything of it!

Thank you so so much for sharing your story guys :-) It sounds like your wedding is set to be amazing XOXO Lou
