How to Grow Your Own Wedding Flowers // Part 2 // Sowing Outdoors | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

The bank holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity to get out in the garden and tend to your plants. So I thought today would be lovely timing for the green fingered :-)

Following on from part one in the grow your own wedding flower series, today I am sharing how I moved my seedlings outdoors. I am really enjoying this new project and learning about how to garden and grow blooms. I cannot wait to see the results already.

Firstly I gave my bed a good weed and hoe.

Next I created a structure using canes and twines for my sweet peas. Simply placed in the ground angled inwards and tied at intervals.

I dug holes next to my canes, placed in my seedlings and tied them in to the poles.

My next task was to plant out my Dahlia and Peony tubers. Instead of potting them first I decided to wait and plant them straight out. I am not expecting them to flower this year, so I will see how they get on.

This process is pretty self explanatory, dig a hole, pop it in, cover it over and mark it's place.

I left some gypsohlia seeds to the side to sow outdoors direct. I raked out some soil, before sprinkling the seeds in a criss cross pattern and sprinkling soil over the top.

The seedlings have done pretty well in our little potting shed and are definitely ready for the big outdoors. We have been hardening them off by placing them outside during the day too.

I carefully removed the plugs and plucked the seedlings out by their leaves. I poked holes using a cane into the ground before delicately placing in the ground and covering with soil.

And finally give them all a good drink of water.

Be sure to check out the instructions that come with your plants for the optimal positioning outside.

Let's hope from these little seedlings grow beautiful blooms :-)

Happy gardening lovelies. I will be back soon with an update fingers crossed XOXO Lou
