Alexandria and Matthew tied the knot a week before Christmas last year. In New York. AND it snowed.

I'd be positively green with envy if it wasn't for the fact that they are the sweetest couple and possibly the most excited newlyweds I think I've seen on these pages. You'll know what I mean when to take a butchers at the photos in a moment but it's almost as if they can barely contain their glee at the fact that they've just got married.

Adorable.

Matt moved to NYC five years ago from the UK and three years later Alex, who's also British, joined him after they met at Coachella (a festival coincidentally I've always longed to go to!)

The couple wanted to keep the wedding as local as possible so picked a church just four blocks along from the street where they first lived together. So much history. So many sentimental moments - I just love it.

I also love Alex's gorgeously contemporary Temperley dress, the confetti infused photobooth, the portraits in the snow and the epic T-shirts that Alex's maids had made for her in honour of her special day.

Immense.

Matt The Groom: Alex's dress was purchased from Temperley which I nervously transported across the pond for her. On the morning of the wedding, she had her hair styled at Tommy Guns before getting ready at The Wythe Hotel, opposite one of Brooklyn's best known landmarks - the Brooklyn Brewery. The views from the hotel look right across the river to Manhattan but on the morning of the wedding it was snowing so heavily, you just had to imagine it.

My suit was purchased from Barney's in New York along with my tie and my brown brogues from Gucci.

We got married at the Church of the Ascension. We had more than 50 guests flying in from the UK, Bali and Singapore including international photographer Hacker who was so excited to be a Brooklyn wedding photographer for the first time. This area is so special to us, it felt right to get married here.

A line of yellow taxis took the Alex and her maids through the snow to the Church of the Ascension just a few blocks away. After the service the guests were transported to the reception venue in a typical American yellow school bus.

The service was led by laid back Brooklynite vicar - John - who was awesome and got everyone involved. Not many people in the wedding party are religious so it was great to involve people and he delivered a service everyone could relate to. The service was followed by a sparkly reception at The Metropolitan Building, Long Island City, Queens.

The Metropolitan Building, just by the Queensboro Bridge is real hidden gem. As you approach the building through its industrial surroundings, you'd be forgiven for wondering if you had the wrong address. But once you walk through the heavy duty doors and climb to the second floor you're greeted by the most beautiful, elegant space. The Metropolitan is a unique venue in New York for so many reasons but the best is that you're able to select all the furniture and props that you want from the storage area on the upper floor. So we had vintage trunks, chaise longs, vintage furniture and bird cages all over the place. Carlos who manages the weddings was absolutely awesome. I can't say enough good things about him. His barmen were also amazing.

Our wedding decor and theme was made up as we went along. Literally. Our fun centerpiece as you walked into the venue was a 10ft Christmas tree. We decorated it with baubles with everyone's names on them - which served as the seating plan. As we were tying the knot a week before Christmas we couldn't not have a tree. Hanging from each bauble on the tree was a name tag for each guest and on the other side was written the name of the table.

And the hint of Christmas didn't end there. Following the meal we treated our guests to a visit from none other than Santa.

Our flowers were awesome! Jenah from Xylem and Phloem was amazing and totally got our vibe. She was associated with the venue and it was an easy decision once we'd met with her. We visited a few other florists but they just didn't get it.

Alex bought the bridesmaid dresses at COS in UK and accessorised them with the silver belts; all of the girls bought their own shoes. The ushers acquired their own suits: the brief was dark blue suit with brown shoes.

We had a band - Nightingale Jazz - that played during cocktail hour and after dinner. They played Christmas themed jazz numbers after dinner.

All the food was provided by the venue's caterer. We could have chosen a different one but we went with theirs - Sasha was amazing. We provided our own dessert - we bought carrot cake from a local bakery.
We created the bar ourselves and the venue provided bar staff. We used our local wine shop for the sparkling wine and red/white which was great value.

Our friends were awesome helping us with props and entertainment for the evening. John and Nina created a wedding book for us and managed a video room where we recorded a silly video.

Dean and Shaks organized fancy dress for a drunk Santa to hand out as presents, and wrapped up lots of fake presents to decorate the photo booth.
