Relaxed Country Cottage Garden Summer BBQ Wedding in Cambridgeshire | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Tim and Susanne married last summer with a church ceremony followed by a marquee reception in a cottage garden in Cambridgeshire. The setting was idyllic, nestled in the pretty countryside with the sun shining down on them.

They wanted to create a relaxed BBQ atmosphere for their wedding complete with deck chairs, great music and DIY décor.

Susanne looked stunning in her Rose Couture lace dress, which she had altered to accommodate her beautiful bump, while Tim donned a sharp black suit. Oh how I adore these images.

Huge thanks goes to the wonderful Caro Hutchings for allowing me to share her photographs with you today.

THE VISION | We wanted a relaxed BBQ atmosphere with friends, family and good music.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Apart from finding a venue it was a very relaxed affair we just went on with getting one thing after the other sorted

THE VENUE | A cottage near Cambridge.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES |The dress was from the Taylor's Cat in Cambridge the brand Rose Couture and the name Lola. My engagement ring and earrings were designed by my best friend Kia Schwaninger, who is a designer at Van Cleef and Arpels. The bracelet I wore was my youngest sister's she lent to my for the day it is from Bucherer. And the necklace was off the shelf from John Lewis.

FINDING THE DRESS | It was nice because I was able to show to all three of my sisters who live back home before choosing it. Also I was not pregnant nor did I know that I would be when I ordered it in a size 8 in December... But Emma (the owner) was amazing she offered me to choose another one, however, my heart was set on this one and she made the alterations (after ordering it in a size 12 - which still had to be let out twice!) to make it fit.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | He came to Cambridge from Melbourne with only this black suit in his luggage as he sought it might come in handy for college occasions, but soon realised he needed a dinner suit here so never wore it until the day of our wedding - I'm sure that's not what he originally imagined...

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | They all wore their own dresses Tim's sister Brigitte wore a dress from Whistles (short dark blue), Barbara and Michele wore dresses from Coat (crème colour) and Regula wore a dress from Massimo Dutti (long dark blue).

THE FLOWERS |We bought the roses from a wholesaler Chadwicks flowers and added the red from the field on which we had the wedding.

THE CAKE | Was a surprise from my mum she got it at the Norfolk Street Bakery in Cambridge.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The amazing Caro Hutchings. Hiring her was another surprise from my sister Regula and my god mother. Everyone commented on how amazing the photos were and how unobtrusive she was as a photographer. She made Tim and I feel very comfortable.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We made everything ourselves we got a stamp made for the invitations which we used for the place names which we tied on the serviettes. And the pompoms we hung around the place were made during my hen's party on the Thursday before the wedding.

THE HONEYMOON | We did a pre-wedding honeymoon in May in Thailand the highlight of which were 5 days in the Santhiya resort in Koh Phangan.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | From the moment I woke up until we closed our eyes. I was never very interested in weddings or getting married I always saw it more as a formality - I couldn't have been more wrong it was an overwhelming day in the best possible way.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy the magic of the day.
