2014 Wedding Cake Trends #5 Vintage Wedding Cakes | Bridal Musings

All things vintage are enjoying quite the renaissance at the minute.

From cascading bouquets to lace wedding dresses, and from flapper hair styles to retro cars, there's a touch of the days of yore in many modern weddings.

So of course, it was only a matter of time before vintage styles made their way into the world of sugar paste, buttercream, and cake stands.

Last time we talked Soft Hues, and before that it was Buttercream Beauties, Naked Bakes and Metallic Tiers.

In the latest instalment of our look at the Biggest Wedding Cake Trends of 2014, our resident goddess of baking, Jaclyn Campbell from Ivory & Rose Cake Company talks antique edibles.

From lovely lace detail, to pretty blooms with an old world feel, freshly baked goodies that feel like they're from a by-gone era, these cakes are pretty, chic, and no-less delicious.

We'll let our wonderful cake-spert Jaclyn tell you a little bit more...

Vintage Style Wedding Cakes

The soft hues of vintage colours can add a real feminine beauty to your wedding cake. There are so many different ways to have a vintage inspired wedding cake. This is one trend I don't see going out of fashion for a long time and it is one of my favourites! The lace design of your wedding dress or cascading sugar flowers in the rustic pinks, lilacs, greens or soft beige or if you have birdcages as part of your décor, a birdcage wedding cake would be the perfect fit for your day.

Oh-so-pretty!

I love the lace overlays, they look really opulent, and the hand-painted cake is just gorgeous.
