People has been making fires to generate heat and cook. Although, the very traditional use of fire has been disappearing in our culture I believe people still tend to look for primeval sparks which may still be hidden inside their subconsciousness. However, I should say our campfires are much more tame in Fire-Pits then they used to be in remote times.

Some designs of the pits are very modern but I'm in favour of simple solutions which connote primitive conditions. The Outdoor Fire Pit showed on Scattered Thoughts of A Crafty Mom is a pit which meets my projection. I think, it resembles a well hidden in the middle of the forest. Jamie, the blog owner, says the the project turned out to be easy and she regrets they waited so long to get it done.
