Tuesday Tutorial: Bold Blue Lids

We get it. The concept of blue eye shadow probably makes you think of an '80s exercise video (Jazzercise, anyone?) or a perky cheerleader from an after-school special (hey there, Kelly Kapowski!). While we understand your initial skepticism, we want to enlighten you with a newsflash: blue eye shadow is awesome. The beauty of this bright little number is that it gives your eyes dramatic and bold color with very little effort. Still not buying it? We enlisted the help of professional makeup artist extraordinaire Emma Willis for Contour Fossa to show us how to create a beautiful blue eye shadow look!

Step 1. To help the color stay in place and to give it an extra pop, start by applying Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion . Then, using your finger, pat the blue shadow onto your eyelid, stopping at the crease. Emma used the lid color from Lancôme Color Design 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette.

Step 2. Apply a thin line of the same blue shadow along your lower lash line, and smudge the line out with a clean fluffy shadow brush.

Step 3. Line your waterline and top lash line with a black cream eyeliner, like Urban Decay Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner in Perversion . Smudge the top line.

Step 4. Finish the look with a pink lipstick.
