Tegan Liska and Nikolai Derksen, September 7, 2013, Gwynne, Alberta.

September 7, 2013

One lovely January night, Tegan and Nick decided to go for a stroll around the lake near their house. "Half way around the lake he stopped to 'scratch his ankle' and the next thing I knew he was on one knee!" explains Tegan. "Nick had planned to propose on an upcoming vacation but he was too excited to wait!"

For their big day, the couple opted for a relaxed and whimsical shabby-chic theme. A colour palette of mint green and pale pink perfectly complemented the celebration's rustic burlap and lace decor accents while succulents were used to add an unexpected touch to the couple's floral arrangements as well as their wedding cake. "Our bouquets were better than in my dreams and the cake and cupcakes were perfect!" Tegan exclaims.
