Jemma and David married on the 10 th May 2014 in London and wanted a day which was simple, which had those they love around them. They were on a budget and so DIY'd much of their day, with Jemma making the wonderful cake, the sweet craft paper crackers and her hair piece.

The little ones, rainy portraits and big smiles all round were just fabulous.

Thanks so much to the brilliant Photography by Clare for sharing her photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | There were two proposals, both with a yes but one with a ring!

One very spontaneous proposal in the smoking area of a Clapham bar, very romantic - I know it doesn't sound it but it was perfect. He'd recently moved to London and I was living in Nottingham. We had been talking about whether I was going to leave my family, friends and job and move with him. The proposal did it! It wasn't really something we'd spoken about before but it seemed right for us. We spent the rest of the weekend taking in what had happened, still feeling not quite real.

A few months later we went on holiday to Venice. He insisted on a gondola ride and there he proposed again with a ring.

THE VISION | We wanted a simple wedding, the main thing for us was that the people we cared about were there.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Planning the wedding, we started a year before, booked the registry office and the hotel for the reception and then did very little for a few months. It comes round so quickly though. Before you know it you are running around with only a few weekends left to do anything.

BUDGET | We were on a tight budget, especially with being in London but it helped that we did things ourselves.

THE VENUE | We got married at Ealing Town Hall registry office, it's a lovely old building and had enough room to fit everyone we wanted.

The reception we had in Chiswick Moran Hotel. It was the modern setting we liked but it also had character. Most other places we saw were just a white box or old fashioned. We wanted somewhere that felt right for us, somewhere that we would like to stay.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress I found back home in Nottingham from James Bride. It's a lovely shop that has been going over 50 years and the staff were amazing, so helpful. My dress was a champagne colour with white lace over the top, fishtail style with one shoulder strap. It was exactly what I was looking for, I couldn't believe my luck when it was in budget!

I made my hair piece, it was lace with pearl beads and sequins to match my dress. When I looked at buying something they were all so expensive. I bought a lace appliqué, added some extra detail and fixed it to a comb.

We made our own wedding rings. David found a workshop at the Wedding Ring Workshop in London not long after we got engaged. We were concerned about how they would turn out but the people were great and took us through every step - correcting everything we did wrong! It actually worked out better value for money as well. We paid for the workshop and then they were weighed at the end and you pay for the metal that you use. It means we got the rings we wanted and they were a perfect fit, something we will remember forever.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | I thought it was nice for David to have something special to wear and it actually took much longer to find his suit than it did my dress! He wanted something a bit different, a funky lining and slim leg trousers. He ended up with a lovely grey suit that the store took in for the perfect fit.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We walked down the aisle to an instrumental of Chasing Cars, it was a song that we'd been thinking of for our first dance but it was better here.

Our first dance song was All of Me starting with the slow version, we had a friend mix in the Tiësto remix towards the end. We didn't want just a slow song, we wanted to get everyone on the dance floor.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My two beautiful sisters were the bridesmaids with my niece and David's niece and nephew as flower girls and page boy. They were so cute! The only concern I had was that my older sister got pregnant one the run up to the wedding but luckily she still fitted in her dress!

THE FLOWERS | The flowers we kept simple white roses.

THE CAKE | I made my own wedding cake, I enjoy baking so it seemed silly to spend a lot of money on something I could do myself. I kept it simple and practised a couple of recipes. I decorated it with ribbons which were in keeping with the other decorations.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer, Clare was great. She had done my sister's wedding and I liked her style and the way she worked. I was a bit concerned about having someone around and I've never liked having my photo taken, but Clare made it easy, we felt very comfortable.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We made more ourselves than we planned to. For the place settings we used crackers that we spent what seemed like hours making, David helped me get a bit of a production line going! We had to make around 60 and I seriously underestimated how much work it would be! It was a nice touch in the end though. The table names were London landmarks, I found vintage black and white postcards to use. The centrepieces were candles that we put ribbons around to match the crackers, table names and cake.

THE HONEYMOON | This was David's part, he researched and planned an amazing honeymoon. With the help of his BA staff discount we flew to Bangkok, then to Koh Samui, Koh Phangan for the full moon party, Kuala Lumpur, then Bali where we spent the most time in an amazing private villa.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | I can't pick one, the day was just amazing and perfect!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Everyone should plan the wedding that is right for them. Our wedding wouldn't be right for everyone but it was our perfect day.

Don't worry about things going wrong because the day will be amazing anyway.

If you can do it yourself and save some money it's well worth it. Just plan and try not to leave it until the last minute. You won't believe how quickly it comes round.
