Matthew & Nicole's Silvermist Wedding - Wedding Friends

Set in the beautiful and popular Houtbay, Matthew and Nicole had their Silvermist Mountain Lodge Wedding. A fairytale off course, but true love got them there. Wedding Friends wants to share with the world the work of Warren Williams Photography, a spectacular photographer who truly pleases his clients. Have a look at today's Western Cape Wedding and perahaps you will be inspired!

I came across a photograph of Nicole on social media. Immediately interested, I requested that our mutual friends arrange a "meeting" where we would be in the same place at the same time. Our mutual friends planted the seed but this "meeting" unfortunately never took place. Low and behold, and a few weeks later, I saw Nicole at gym and we got chatting. Surprisingly, all of our workouts finished at the same time! A few weeks later, I managed to pluck up the courage and I asked Nicole to join me at a party. She never replied. I thought I had misread all of the signals. A day or so later, she replied, apologized and said she never got the message. She proceeded to give me her number (yes girls, she gave me her number) as a more reliable form of communication. A first date at Wakame followed, a few dates and a DVD later (where we shared our first kiss) and we were a couple. For the first few months, our currency was Vida and croissant deliveries.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down.

On our 2-year anniversary, I surprised Nicole with a weekend away to Franschoek. I always knew that this would be the weekend where I would bend down on one knee. Nicole didn't have the foggiest idea and was excited just to celebrate our anniversary. After receiving the blessing from the now in-laws, that is a story for another time, we set off for Franschoek. The plan was to wine taste and visit a few wines farms and acquire some liquid courage, before settling down for a picnic on the Franschoek pass. We would sit overlooking the valley and *BAM* I would get on one knee and pop the question - that was until we woke up to torrential down pour and snow on the Franschoek pass. Plan B, there was no Plan B.

I proceeded to carry the ring in my pocket for the entire day waiting for the "right moment." The "right moment" struggled to present itself. I even arranged for a romantic walk along the river only to be told that the river was "so dirty" and there was "so much litter". Plan C.

Like many before men before me, I had to make it happen. I bought roses, our favourite wine and I set up our entire hotel room with candles, roses and rose petals. All of the planning and stress was well worth it when I was vulnerable and on one knee and she said - "YES, THE BIGGEST YES EVER".

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day.

We danced the night away with family and friends. It really was a celebration of happiness, our union and the best day of our lives so far.

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides.

Getting married, planning a wedding and shopping for a perfect dress is a dream come true for most girls. Being a "bride to be" is such an exciting title however you do need the help and support of your family (particularly the women), bridesmaids and girlfriends. After getting engaged, it is so important to book the venue, photographer and make-up artist as soon as you have set a date. It is not a bad idea to book the DJ as well. Set yourself a timeline listing everything that needs to be done in each month leading up to the wedding and don't be shy to assign tasks, after all your bridesmaids and family want to help anyway they can.

As the wedding draws ever closer, try and stay as relaxed as possible. Budget permitting, go for a lovely facial or massage. Keep remembering and telling yourself that you will be the most beautiful bride and that you will knock the socks off your husband to be.
