Katie and Tommy live in the UK and were planning their wedding in South Africa when they came across the Wedding Friends blog. The bride recalls the inspirational work by Tyme Photography, Silent Video Productions and Splendid Wedding Company featured on Wedding Friends. She made contact with her chosen suppliers, and being ever so professional, every supplier responded promptly.

The wedding took place in April at The Cradle. Eve Poplett, Splendid Wedding Company, styled this wedding. Today, we are sharing her story of how this wedding happened - from concept to execution.

Word from the Eve:
I met Katie and Tommy in 2013 when they were in SA and in the early stages of their planning process. Kate' mom, Marie, was in charge of all the wedding plans. I loved Marie's incredibly organised way and I appreciate how stressful the process was for the family. It is never easy when a couple is far away. All communication happened via the email and a few Skype calls. The table presentation for this wedding took place just a few days before the wedding, and there was a high level of anxiety. It is so difficult for designers to explain what is going on in our minds. We have these ideas and visions and we 'see' the concept. Yet it is hard to explain how the wedding which hasn't happened yet, will look like. I appreciate the trust the family put in me, and the creative freedom I had on the day of the wedding, it allowed me to create magic.

The vision for this wedding was to create a reception that was both magical, organic and unique. Kate loved the idea of using unusual flower selection such pennygums, ericas, proteas and fynbos to suit the venue and the grand African surrounds. Kate's favourite flower is a Tulip. The white tulips we had were the first of the season. They were meant to be at Kate's wedding, and they added an extra element of glamour! We kept the table arrangements low, structured with grouped and statement flower displays. Using multitude of candles throughout created a soft, romantic and magical glow. The Splendid Wedding Company also made use of roof space for hanging branches, jars with light and get creative with various options. It was an exciting wedding to style, and the atmosphere created impressed the couple and the guests.
