Bride's Perspective: Elise's Cute Bridesmaid Ask Ideas

via

Hi mywedding brides! Elise here. I'm excited to share my first post in my wedding planning series today! Not sure what I'm talking about? Read more about it here.

Your bridesmaids are the most special gals in your life, so clearly you should ask them to stand by your side on your big day in a special way! The way you pop the question to your bridesmaids doesn't have to be an over-the-top DIY that would make Pinterest cry tears of joy, but it also shouldn't be a group text message (true story that happened to a friend of mine-yikes!).

I wanted to ask my girls to be my bridesmaids in a playful way, and with a small gift that wouldn't break the bank, but that I knew they would love. I designed these cards (or rather, I came up with the concept and nicely asked my talented fiancé to design them for me) for my bridesmaids, and I love how they turned out! Each card has "I can't tie the knot without you by my side. Will you be my bridesmaid?" printed on the front.

Along with the card, each bridesmaid received a dainty gold knot ring (Get it?? Tie the knot!). I picked these rings up at one of my favorite local San Francisco jewelry boutiques, Azil, and you can also order them online here.

To add a bit of playfulness to the cards, I also added something wedding-related and sassy to the back of each card. With each bridesmaid in mind, I wrote silly notes like:
I need someone to make sure I don't ugly cry. That someone is you.
Oh whaddup sister-in-law!
He's marrying me...but he's stuck with us.
I need someone to hold my dress while I pee. That lucky someone is you.

I sent these cards and rings out to all my girls and they absolutely loved them! I'm so happy I took the time to think of a fun way to ask them to be my bridesmaids. It was a super easy DIY, especially since I had my fiancé's help, but I think my bridesmaids really appreciated the gesture. And if you've ever been a bridesmaid, you know that it takes plenty of effort, time, $$, and sometimes patience. So that's why I think it's so important to do something thoughtful when asking your girls to be your bridesmaids.

If you'd like to download these cards to use for your own special ladies, you can find links to download them at the bottom of this post on my blog. If you do end up using any of these cards, tweet me a pic!
