Rainy & Romantic Botanic Gardens Engagement

Rainy & Romantic Botanic Gardens Engagement

via

Sarah and Chris had a long distance relationship for 9 months; with Sarah living in New York and Chris living in France. But they set up home in Glasgow where Chris popped the question at the Botanic Gardens. They headed back there for their rainy romantic engagement shoot, which I just adore.

Lets savour the love.

Thanks so much to Anna Urban for sharing her atmospheric images this afternoon.

"Chris and I knew each other from school but it wasn't until 2008 when I was living in New York that we got to know each other again. Chris came to America on holiday with a friend and we decided to meet up for 4th July weekend...and the rest is history as they say! We started a long distance relationship with me being in New York for another 9 months and Chris living in France. (There were a lot of expensive phone bills!) Eventually we both moved to Glasgow where we stayed for a few years and this is also where Chris proposed." "It was always going to be pretty obvious what Chris was up to if he tried to surprise me with a weekend away or a champagne picnic so he kept the proposal pretty low key, much like himself! But it was perfect, and a complete surprise. After coming back from an away game playing rugby in Wales, we decided to take a walk to the botanic gardens in the West End of Glasgow very close to where we were living as it was an unseasonably sunny evening in November last year. He suggested we walk down by the riverside - the suggestion was promptly rebuffed when I reminded him I was wearing my new boots and I didn't want to get them dirty! He tells me he quickly formulated a plan b and he led me to the little gazebo at the top of the botanic gardens. After waiting for the lone dog walker to get out of the way he got down on one knee and proposed. It was very romantic and we couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces as we skipped back through the park." "We knew we wanted to get married fairly quickly and we didn't want to wait any longer than the next summer. We therefore didn't have very much time to put the wedding together. It was about 7 months in total although I had already planned a two month trip to India in the January and it didn't leave me much time to make the big decisions!" "I had been to Carphin by St Andrews a couple of years ago and remembered thinking how lovely it would be to have a wedding there. Within days of our engagement the venue had been booked, along with Anna Urban our wonderful photographer and a few of the other essentials had been ticked off the list before I had to leave to go to India. I was amazed at how difficult it was to find availability for some things, even 7 months in advance. However, I am glad we are not waiting. You can get very caught up in planning a wedding as there are so many choices. With such limited time I've gone with with my gut instinct and once I've found something I love I don't spend anymore time searching to see if I can get something a little bit better. I think you always end up coming back to your first choice anyway!"

How gorgeous.

Thanks so so much for sharing your story guys XOXO Lou
