Laidback Texas Farm Wedding: Alexandria + Joshua

Laidback Texas Farm Wedding: Alexandria + Joshua

via

When a couple is as down to earth as Alexandria + Joshua are, you know their wedding will be one for the books. Hosted at a friend's family farm, their day was all about celebrating their relationship with each other, as well as honoring their tight-knit community of friends + family. We love that they went for an organic, bohemian vibe with the decor and incorporated lots of interesting textures, patterns, and textiles into the design. If you love succulents, moss, kilim, lace, and twine, seriously guys - this one's for you!

Alexandria says, We didn't have a ton of time to plan (we got engaged the day after Christmas and married in March!) so at first we just started picking out things we love. We had discussed having a very simple wedding from the get go, so we just kept telling ourselves that we didn't need to do everything. We are a couple that really enjoy our intimate friendships and love the way weddings have been done for centuries, so really we wanted to make the focus of the day our relationships. We decided to have the wedding on a Sunday, and have parties on both Friday and Saturday before the wedding because we had a bunch of friends and family traveling from out of town. Most of the decorations were borrowed so we only had to purchase a few things.

Thanks so much to Bethany Jeffery for the lovely photos + big congrats to the happy couple!

A + J had such a sweet first look! Love how he's looking at her in the shot below. :)

Alexandria carried such a rad, wild bouquet by Moss!

Processional: Lake Yarina - Josh Garrels

Recessional: Turning Page - Sleeping At Last (Instrumental)

First Dance: Can't Help Falling In Love (With You) - Sung live by three of the couple's closest friends

During the ceremony we had blankets set on the ground in front so some of our guests were almost sitting at our feet. It was so intimate.

We have a couple of favorite memories! We would probably say the pronouncement was our favorite moment. Neither of us expected to get so emotional, but when the pastor pronounced us as husband and wife we just lost it! It really was the sweetest moment of the whole day. It was important for us to integrate our beliefs into our wedding. The whole ceremony was centered around the example of how Jesus treated his bride (the church). We washed each other's feet during the ceremony to show our love and service to one another. Another memorable moment was after the wedding. We had a polaroid camera so that we could have physical memories of the wedding. It's always fun to look at your wedding hashtag, but we have a blast looking through the polaroids and seeing the memories made that night.

We're adoring those moss picnic table runners!

Another incredible moment was the lantern release. It was really one of the most beautiful things to watch and we think it was the most fun part of the night for our guests.

Definitely check out their sweet wedding video by Cody Maher!

Hire a wedding planner or elope! Seriously. Every couple we know asks us this question and we tell them all the same thing. No matter what size wedding you're having you need help. We tried to do it all on our own and by the end of the night we were so exhausted. If someone offers, accept the help, and if no one does...hire someone! It's worth it. You can also elope and get a great photographer and videographer. We're from different states, so we still had a party in New Orleans a month after the wedding and showed the video. Everyone loved it!
