Chic & Elegant Classic Wedding

Chic & Elegant Classic Wedding

via

Classic, elegant and oh so chic, would be how I describe today's rather fabulous real wedding.

WWW readers Natalie and Richard tied the knot on the Saturday 15 March 2014 at Nonsuch Mansion, Surrey. They met on the tube on the District Line and so they included a subtle nod to their meeting in their lovely wedding décor.

There were lush pastel florals, which worked perfectly against the navy lace bridesmaid dresses. Natalie looked beautiful in her exquisite lace and tulle Pronovias dress which she wore with her hair in a simple and pretty up do.

Thanks goes to the wonderful Alexa Loy for sharing her images today and to White Dress Films for sharing their emotive film.

THE PROPOSAL | In our flat on a snowy March Saturday as we danced to one of our favourite songs in the living room - very simple, sweet & personal. After Richard proposed we went ring shopping together and Richard had organised dinner at our favourite restaurant that evening.

THE VISION | Our vision was elegant, traditional and personal. We didn't want a 'theme' - the only hint of theme we had running through was to do with the tube as we met on the District line. The table plan was based on tube lines and we sat on the district line of course! The bridesmaids & any ribbon were in navy and the floral arrangements were soft and romantic in pastel pinks and white.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I (Natalie) took the planning in my stride and loved it. I loved the organising side and seeing everything come together. I'm a graphic designer so I designed all of the stationery and wedding collateral and since our wedding have recently started up 'Natalie Anne Design' which specialises in wedding stationery. We had some planning help from Jade at Nonsuch Mansion who was absolutely brilliant. She helped out where possible and was so lovely and fabulously organised.

BUDGET | We are very fortunate to have such generous parents so Natalie's parents took care of most of the budget whilst Richard's parents helped out with a few things too. We were very grateful and feel very lucky to have had so much help.

THE VENUE | The stunning Nonsuch Mansion in Cheam, South West London. As soon as we walked into the venue we knew it was the 'one'. It had the wow factor and everything we were looking for - something which had the old/traditional charm yet didn't feel dark or dated. It was stunning.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was by Pronovias on New Bond Street. The dress was 'Petunia' with matching chapel veil. Natalie's hair piece was from a local bridal shop in Raynes Park and shoes were by Rachel Simpson. I wore a diamond watch my Nanna had left me which was a really special touch.

FINDING THE DRESS | I had an idea of what I wanted so when I tried this dress on after SO many dresses I knew straight away it was the one. I loved trying on dresses and went to so many shops which was much fun. I was looking for something that showed my figure but didn't feel like I had my bum on display (if you get what I mean). The dress had to feel romantic and elegant as well as being timeless. Petunia had a fitted dress and then a gorgeous overlay of lace & tulle. The dress had a divine mix of lace & tulle and felt so romantic to wear.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Richard had this suit tailored by King and Allen in Surbiton. He went for a three-piece charcoal grey suit, with black brouges, a white shirt and navy blue tie with little white dots.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Both Natalie & Richard's sisters read a reading. Sarah Taylor read 'The One' (author unknown) and Laura Spear read an excerpt from one of our favourite books - 'The five people you meet in heaven'.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My gorgeous bridesmaids were my sister, Sarah Taylor and my best friend, Georgie Plant. Their dresses were stunning elegant Navy full length dresses with lace sleeves from House of Fraser.

THE FLOWERS | Our flowers were by the fabulous Michelle Rust. Michelle was fantastic - she knew the direction I wanted and went above and beyond what we asked. She also put so many extra bits and bobs around the venue on the day which we are very grateful for. So many guests commented on how gorgeous the flowers were - they were truly stunning. The flowers were a mix of soft bunchy roses, peonies and anything that looked soft & romantic. A sprinkle of eucalyptus leaf was accented around the venue and along the aisle which was a lovely link to my home - Australia.

THE CAKE | Richard's good friend Lynsey Stewart made our cake - it's her hobby and she did a fabulous job. We told her what we wanted and she made it happen and guided us along the way too! It was so lovely and personable having a friend bake the cake for us and it was delicious.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Alexa Loy Dent was our photographer. Photography was so important to us and as we both have a creative eye we were super picky about who we went with. We knew exactly the style we were after so it was down to finding the right photographer who we felt comfortable with. We made a shortlist and met our final 3. We clicked with Alexa as soon as we met her and she made us feel so at ease. We are so thrilled with her photos - the light and framing is just what we wanted.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I became close friends with ebay and really got into buying and sourcing online. From antique glass name holders to tealights, ribbon, confetti and fabric. Richard's mum was amazing and helped sew all 103 favour bags. I sourced the fabric (a powder blue colour with floral pattern) and she sewed them into little bags which were filled with silver foiled chocolates. I designed all of the stationery & on the day collateral - tags, name holders, ceremony books, confetti cones and table plan. The table plan was based around the tube lines and we had matching ribbon linked to each tube lines colour. In the bar we had the mantle piece filled with frames we had collected and painted which were filled with family photos and photos of Richard and I when we were young to today. Hundreds of tea lights in antique glass holders lit the venue and there were flowers on all ledges possible. We had a flowergirl who was Natalie's niece and a page boy who was Richard's nephew - they were so good and SO cute!

THE HONEYMOON | We spoiled ourself and went to Grenada & St Lucia for 2 weeks - staying in 3 gorgeous small boutique hotels along the way.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Seeing each other for the very first time on the aisle, saying our vows, the confetti - that felt like we were in a snow dome - we loved it!, our first dance, our last dance together where all of our guests made a ring around us which was very special and at the end of the evening our guests made a tunnel which we walked through and said our goodbyes before hopping off in our car to our hotel.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Be organised, look at lots of venues and make sure you're completely happy with the chosen one, try on LOTS of dresses (it's good fun), keep a scrapbook as it's so special to look back on, try and get everything sorted a month before the big day as the final month is manic and you want to try and de-stress a little, have a shoot with your photographer before the wedding to get used to how they work and get comfortable with the camera, take a step back on the wedding day and take it all in - it's so fabulous having everyone in the same room, we didn't drink too much on the wedding day as we wanted to take it all in, dance together, take 5mins out together with a glass of bubbles and take it all in, plan every little detail - it's all worth it on the day, have a videographer - photography is so important but videography brings those moments to life even more and it's so special to look back on in years to come, smile and don't stress if something isn't going right on the day - everything will be ok!
