Whimsical & Chic White Country Wedding

Whimsical & Chic White Country Wedding

via

Lauren and Tom's May wedding is the perfect mix of whimsical, bohemian and chic style. With a beautiful country setting at the Red House Barn, Worcestershire they had a cool palette of whites and greens which worked wonderfully.

There were copious amounts of fresh florals, tassel balloons, calligraphy and the prettiest bridesmaids.

I am totally coveting Lauren's wedding day look, with her hair gorgeous tousled with flower garland, a flowing Jesus Peiro dress and Prada sandals. WOW.

Thanks so much to the fabulous Jo Hastings for sharing her photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | On a beautiful secluded cove beach on Porthgain, sat amongst the Pembrokeshire coastline. West Wales was a special place, after first meeting there 5 years before.. (on the day of the proposal)

THE VISION | We have both lived in London for the last 6 years, so decided early on that we definitely wanted to get married back home in Worcester where I'm from (Lauren). It was the perfect setting for a beautiful English country wedding. After discovering Pinterest early on, it was quite easy to let your imagination get carried away.. It is amazing for inspiration, but also dangerous for your budget!!!

Overall, we wanted to creative a beautiful, whimsical but chic wedding that embodied the amazing and pretty setting of both the church and barn.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I have the most amazing Mum, with the most amazing taste, so early on she became the 'Un-official Wedding Planner..) It was great to have someone based at home, who I could trust with everything.

We booked the venue and church first, so that was out of the way. We collected decorative bits and bobs over the 2 years leading up to the wedding and had a checklist in the last year which included all of the big things that we eventually started ticking off..

THE VENUE | Ceremony: St.Michael's Church, Bromsgrove. Reception: The Redhouse Barn, Stoke Prior

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress - Jesus Peiro ivory wedding dress. It had a beautiful delicate lace cami (1920′s style) that went over the top, which could also be taken off to create a totally different dress.

Shoes - silver Prada sandals. Accessories - long ivory veil and wild flower head-garland.

FINDING THE DRESS | I spent the day with my Mum and Maid of Honour, Holly in London - we booked 4 appointments and I found it in the last boutique.. I even surprised myself!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Tailored navy three piece suits, white shirts, navy polka dot ties and dark brown brogues. They all had a matching flower pin to the bouquets, bridesmaids etc..

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had a String Quartet in the church as guests arrived and for when I walked down the aisle. There repertoire was amazing, and they played a real mix of contemporary, modern and classic songs.

We had two beautiful readings - one non-biblical from my Mum (which we didn't hear until the day) and a biblical reading, 1 Corinthians from my old school friend Cat, which was lovely.

The String Quartet also played during the reception at the barn, and later on we had a live band and DJ for the evening!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | The bridesmaids looked beautiful - incorporating the country / boho theme, they all had messy fishtail plaits with wild flower hair pins placed in the back. They wore floor-length taupe /silver dresses and silver sandals.

Our little flower-girl wore a full tutu style ivory dress, with silver pumps and a matching wild flower head-garland to mine - she looked like an angel!

THE FLOWERS | We wanted a pretty mix of wild, seasonal spring flowers. We worked with a florist in Worcester for the head pieces, bouquets and pins for the gents. And for all of the decorative detailing, we worked with a family friend who owns his own flower business and has a huge warehouse that he kindly let us lend a few days before the wedding.. He made all of the wild flower garlands that hung from the beams in the barn and sat on the benches in the church. We also made all of our jam jar arrangements that sat on the tables and white rose flower heads that sat in pots of moss.

We ordered in lots of moss to sit around the large silver candelabras on each table, we also put these in the large storm candles that were filled with candles and were dotted around the church and barn.

THE CAKE | Four tier hand piped 'lace' cake by Rachelle's Bespoke cakes.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | We used Jo Hastings Photography - she really captured the feeling and emotion of the day and every little detail.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Cars: Two cream classic vintage Jaguars.

In the church: Birch trees, storm candles in the entrances and at the altar, wild flowers garlands, recycled French glass yogurt pots filled with moss and tea-lights, white paper hearts in the garden trees leading up to the church.

In the barn: Vintage blackboard with large balloons with tassels on entrance, birch trees in the entrance and main room, wild flower garlands on the trees, lots of large silver storm-candles dotted around the entrance / barn / garden, Diptyque candles, mini silver pots filled with moss and white rose heads, white festoon lights around the garden, hanging glass pots and tea-lights in the trees, neon 'LOVE' sign behind the bar. Large glass sweet vases were dotted around the barn filled with white bon-bons, 'wedding colour' M&M's and silver coated almonds. Finally, in the evening we had a black and white photo booth which was lots of fun!!

On the tables: We used an amazing calligrapher who hand-wrote our whole seating plan on a large white vintage mirror, she also did all of the name places, table numbers and menus on each table - this looked so beautiful and added a really personal touch. We had homemade miniature Welsh cakes as favours (we are both Welsh..) so had to include that in somewhere! In the middle were large silver candelabras and flowers dotted around in jar jams and miniature rose-pots.

THE HONEYMOON | We had a mini-moon in the Cotswolds after the wedding and stayed in a beautiful boutique hotel called Dormy House. We then flew to Mexico for 11 nights where we spent our time between Riviera Maya and Tulum! The most amazing place, culture, food and people.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Walking down the aisle, the speeches, throwing the bouquet (it took 3 attempts for a girl to catch..), having our impromptu first dance on the lawn in the evening, the beautiful firework display at night and Tommy and I dancing on shoulders during the last songs!!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Enjoy every moment and take everything in!!! It goes so quickly...
