Laura & Kieran's Rock & Romance Wedding

Morning lovelies! I really do love sharing your sweet wedding stories, and today is a rather lovely one! Laura and her groom-to-be Kieran met when they were just 8 years old... many years later their school yard crushes turned into a grown up romance. She wore a classic Cymbeline dress with lace sleeves and simple silk sash, paired with the prettiest veil, teamed with boho plaits and hair vine from What Katie Did Next. A pop of bright coral on her lips with a matching bouquet, all tumbling foliage and trailing ribbons, add the perfect amount of colour. They had bottles and jars of more coral peonies and roses on the tables, with their favourite bands album artwork as decor, and plenty more DIY details lovingly created by the bride and her talented friends and family. The rock and romance was beautifully captured by photographer Natalie Pluck.

We met when we were 8 years old as our Dads were good friends, but didn't really see much of each other although we had a crush on each other! 10 years later Kieran starting working for my Dad in his butchers shop, we then met again on a night out and he asked me out! Kieran popped the question on a beach in Crete at sunset. It was beautiful!

I purchased my dress from Brides of York, and it was designed by the French designer Cymbeline. I loved all of their dresses that I tried on it was a difficult choice to make! My accessories were made by What Katie Did Next, I had a beautiful hair vine made with vintage peach flowers and silver leafs and foliage, and a veil which reminded me of angel wings. I also wore a chunky silver bracelet that my Uncle bought for me, which was a really special gift as my something new. I wore my Nana earrings as something borrowed and old, and my something blue, my Mum made me a lovely garter.

As I am a make up artist myself I naturally did my own make up! I really like to look very natural so I just did a natural look, with a coral lip to compliment my bouquet, with really clean looking skin, and fluttery lashes. I also did my hair with the help of one of my bridesmaids. I wanted something a bit undone and boho looking, I gained this look by combined plaits and vintage roll with my beautiful twinkly vine and my angel wing veil I wore from What Katie Did Next.The bridesmaids wore the floor length midnight blue dresses. They looked sensational, and suited each maid's different body shape. Kieran, wore a blue suit by Gibson which he purchased along with his blue gingham tie and tan loafers. His brown tweed waist cost was from ASOS. He buttonhole was one of the David Austin Juliet Roses, I must say he looked very dapper! The groomsmen all wore hired suited from Bakers Tailors in Middlesbrough, they fit fab straight away and the boys all looked so smart.

We choose the All Saints Church to get married in and the quaint Village Hall down the road in Hutton Rudby. We wanted somewhere that wasn't you typical run of the mill venue and somewhat we could really do want we wanted and put our own stamp on it. We got to pick the décor, music, food, and drink, and could have gone as mad as the funds allowed! I really liked that idea rather than having a package deal.

We picked the bridesmaids' dresses first and that sort of decided the colour theme. As it was a spring wedding I wanted to lighten the dark blue dresses and suits with bright flowers. As I am pale as well I felt an injection of colour would look good against my skin, so I choose peaches, corals and pinks for my flowers and ran with that theme though the rest of the decoration. I didn't have a set look for the venue, or for myself, I just had ideas that grew organically thought the process of planning, and that's what I ended up with! I didn't want anything to look too 'done.' I just knew I wanted flowers to be a focal point. I wanted a chilled out and fun atmosphere, where people could let their hair down! The overall look was vintage boho with a rock show edge! My inspiration for my bouquet was from a picture I seen on Pinterest. I showed that to my florists Darling and Green and they gave me exactly what I wanted and more! I had a large bouquet of Coral Peonies, David Austin Juliet Roses, Stock, Spray roses and dark green foliage. My bridesmaids had posies of the coral peonies, and my flower girl Poppy, had a single peony tied with a ribbon. Throughout the reception we had those flowers throughout as table centres in mixed vintage bottles and vases on tree slices.

I made my own table plan, name cards, orders of service, chalkboards, garlands, pom poms, glittery table numbers you name it I made it! It was time consuming but so worth it when you see it all together and fun aswell! You just have to trust it WILL come together and don't stress! I definitely saved us a lot of money from doing a lot of DIY. Just make Amazon and Ebay your best friends! Also get your family, bridesmaids and best friends round to help! Cake Toppers made my cake; it was 3 tiers of lemon & strawberry sponge with fruit cake at the bottom. It was decorated in ivory icing with lots of little peachy coloured flowers covering it. It was delicious! Our Photographer was the fab Natalie Pluck. What I love about Natalie's work is the natural and romantic look it has. She's great at capturing those really special moments so beautifully, and lovely to have around on the day!
