Flamingo Fun For A Colour Filled Wedding.

Flamingo Fun For A Colour Filled Wedding.

I think judging by the image above, it's fair to say that Siofra and Craig's wedding is going to be seriously fun...and it doesn't stop with neon pink flamingoes either people - there are all sorts of treats for you to swoon over this morning!

Siofra is a very creative lady, as is her lovely Mum, who is an artist. Between the two of them they've created a wedding masterpiece.

There's Mexican papel picado-inspired bunting that RMW Real Bride Summer would be proud of, a wire chicken, oversized paper roses and the most random use of a model train set I've ever seen at a wedding - complete with a miniature wedding party. (Look out for the rather inebriated young lady...)

And the fashion isn't half bad either...Siofra looks effortlessly sleek in Sassi Holford, complete with vintage kid gloves and mint green Jimmy Choos. Her maids look gorgeous in gowns of various shades of pastel and Craig looks every inch the modern Groom in a blue Ted Baker suit with an absolutely delicious button hole.

Right, that's definitely enough talking...let's get on with the pretty shall we?

Siofra the Bride:Craig and I wanted our wedding day to be the biggest celebration of our love, surrounded by family and friends, and coupled with the mother of all parties. The rulebook was to be thrown away and the creation of a day that was truly unique to us both, was our ultimate goal. Finding a venue that followed this 'no rule' policy was a path we thankfully didn't need to take as my Godmother, Catherine and her husband, Julian, generously offered their beautiful home, Heatherfield, as the perfect setting.

For me the ceremony was what I was looking forward to most and was the most special part of the day. Originally from South Wales, the sounds of a Male Voice Choir wash me with nostalgia, so our guests were treated to Risca Male Choir. Martin, their extraordinarily talented Musical Director worked tirelessly to make my processional piece a reality.

Hearing the Choir, and my Bridesmaid Rhi, sing Quindon Tarver's 'Everybody's Free' as I walked down the aisle and first saw Craig, is a moment I will treasure forever. Walking out of the Church as Mr and Mrs, as the Church bells rang and our guests threw us a confetti tunnel, was the best feeling.

I had always envisaged myself in a detailed, boho gown but once I tried a few styles, somehow, although stunning, they just didn't feel right. I was completely thrown! At High Society Bridal, the amazing girls suggested I try the Sassi Holford dress. I near blankly refused, but with some encouragement I agreed to 'just try it on'. Simple in cut and elegant in shape, it felt exquisite to wear - I couldn't keep my hands from feeling my newly formed curves this dress so magically found - this was how I wanted to feel on the day. It was the one.

My wonderful seamstress, Rhiannon Brown worked with me as I played with various additions to the dress, but I finally settled on a beautiful full-length veil - the perfect choice.

When perusing Selfridges Shoe Gallery with my #1 shopping partner, my Dad, I caught sight of a pair of keylime coloured Jimmy Choos. I fell in love at once. 'Something Old' was a pair of exquisitely pierced white kid gloves that once belonged to my late Garney; a last minute addition, they made my outfit.

Jewellery was kept simple. 'Something Borrowed' and 'Something Blue' were a sweet pair of sapphire earrings from my Mum. For the evening, I wore a pearl necklace that was given to me at my Graduation and swapped my veil for a floral headpiece made from the flowers of my bouquet.

I am super lucky in that my Mother-in-Law is a florist - her guidance and knowledge was invaluable. Our wonderful florist Sharon Merryweather of Special Occasions Florist captured my broad brief of a relaxed look of colourful big blooms and delicate buds perfectly. The bouquets were tied with Liberty print fabric - also used to make my garter and pocket-handkerchiefs for Craig, our Dads and Groomsmen.

Traditional floral table centrepieces were replaced with tissue paper flowers, coupled with bunches of gypsophila and arranged in kilner jars. Stunning white paper roses decorated the Church lych-gate and reception entrance.

Craig's outfit was a far more stressful journey than mine - finally complete a week before the wedding! He wore a Ted Baker suit tailored superbly by YAMA, Russell & Bromley shoes and a silk bowtie from Ties Planet. The five Groomsmens' suits were from Marks & Spencer.

Steering clear from the uniform look and complementing each of my five Bridesmaids' style, I decided on a different colour for each dress. The Dessy website was fantastic with its vast collection and the five colours worked beautifully together. The girls looked sensational on the day. As a thank you, I made them a personalised box of gifts, including a dressing gown monogramed with the Liberty print fabric, embroidered by my Godmother.

My hair and makeup was the responsibility of the fabulous Inma Azorin, who I found through Rock My Wedding. Requesting that my eyes were bright, and my hair elegant, I loved my overall look and from Craig's smile at the end of the aisle, he approved too! The Bridesmaids each had a different styled braid, which worked stunningly with the different dresses.

Craig is a DJ and we have been to Glastonbury every year we've been together -music is our shared love! From the ceremony right through to last orders, the air was alive with music. At the Church, the Choir's performance of the Welsh hymn 'Calon Lan' was spine tingling. For our drinks reception we had a string quartet, Estilo, who performed the perfect set of songs.

In the evening, our outstanding band, The Locals, ensured the dance floor was forever full and even learnt our first dance, The Stone Roses 'She Bangs The Drums'. I'm not known for my rhythmic dancing skills but circled by our friends and family it turned out to be one of our favourite moments! Marc, a Bestman and superb DJ played a blinding set, making Underworld's 'Cowgirl' the song of the night.

In keeping with our informal, relaxed feel, we choose our menu based on our favourite foods. We worked closely with the unbelievably brilliant Harriet of Main Course, Starters & Puds Too, our dream menu comprised of a tapas starter, burger and chips for main and a trio of desserts. The feedback was unanimous - one of the best wedding breakfasts our guests had ever had.

Fiona, a family friend and passionate baker, made our seriously delicious wedding cake, while my dear Dad was responsible for the custom designed 'wedding party' model train that 'choo-chooed' its way around the base of the cake. For the evening, we brought out the impressive cheese cake from Churchmouse Cheeses and homemade chutneys by Craig's Aunt Sally - it was soon devoured by our dancing guests.

From the start, I had a clear idea of what I wanted the marquee's look and feel to be. My personal style and general way of thinking is pretty eclectic and I wanted our wedding to be a reflection of this. Rather than making everything fit into a theme, I approached decisions with the attitude of - if I love it, and I have a gut feeling it will work, then go for it! The result? A feast for the eyes, colours galore, a cocktail of detail and a flock of kitsch flamingos!

I was in my element when planning the decoration, but I could not have done it alone. My Mum, my Mamgi, is the most superbly creative woman I know. A talented artist, whatever crazy decoration idea I brought to her she would effortlessly bring it to life. She was my decoration guru and rock throughout. With a marquee to fill, my time was happily spent pouring huge amounts of thought and love into every single piece of decoration.

Inspired by Mexican garlands, hours were dedicated to hand cutting each individual piece of tissue paper. The visual effect of them hung with strings of fairy-lights was magical. Through my weekly Rock My Wedding browsing, I was bursting with inspiration. Along with pom-poms, crepe streamers, giant flowers, handmade salt and pepper bowls (my Mum's skills shown off once again!) and hundreds & thousands, I ensured every inch of the marquee was transformed.

Table names were our favourite albums and our friend Dexter made the artwork for the second-hand vinyl found on eBay. The table plan was another Rock My Wedding find and my undying love for my Dymo label maker made for the perfect placenames.

The flamingos turned out to be the best decision I made. They flew in from New Jersey, and despite Craig's initial reservations, turned out to be THE talking point of the wedding.

We were so lucky to have such talented and creative family and friends; they all gave so generously towards making our wedding the love and fun filled spectacular day it turned out to be. My Mum's neighbour Terry built the magnificent 'dance', 'bar' and 'eat' lighted boards. Our dear friend Mike designed the impressive C and S light-bulbed letters and made the frame displaying photos of our guests - a great talking point. Our wedding simply would not have been what it was without them.

For a girl who loves her notebooks and pens, I took our wedding stationery seriously. Our stationery was designed by the uber creative Something Kinda Cute; Shell took my inspirations and created something more beautiful than I ever could have imagined. She also turned my Mum's C and S monogram sketch into a working design, which featured extensively - invitations, confetti cone stickers, order of service, button badges and menus.

Choosing our photographer was the first thing we did. From our first conversation with Nicola Thompson she instantly put us at ease, filling us with confidence that she would do an incredible job. We felt so relaxed in front of Nicola's lens and her stunning, timeless photos will forever be treasured.

A videographer was a must. Kyle at Impact 35 was fantastic on the day and Pete, a Bestman (and Producer) edited the hours of footage as a tremendous wedding gift.

My advice to other Brides is to enjoy the planning, enjoy the build-up, some of my most precious memories are from this time - but don't worry when there are times when you want to throw your wedding book out the window. My married cousin and Bridesmaid wisely told me during one of my panicky moments, that it was quite okay not to enjoy every element of the planning. Seek help from family, friends, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen...then delegate.
