Fall Beauty Trend: The Messy Braid Look

Fall Beauty Trend: The Messy Braid Look

via

Let's be honest, there are more varieties of braids out there now than the number of condiments in your fridge. While some entail intricate artwork, unmeasurable skill and possibly a diploma from the Academy of Complex Hairdos, there's a few that are easy enough for everyday girls like us. Enter the messy braid. This perfectly imperfect style involves a simple process and is perfect for dinner dates, shopping excursions or even a regular work day. Ready to get a little messy? Let's go!

Step 1.
This look works best with less-than-pristine hair, so if you haven't washed your hair in a day or two, you're in good shape. If you just washed your mane, don't worry, just use a texturizing spray or powder such as, L'Oréal Paris True Grip Texturizing Powder at your roots to lend some added volume and a bed-head vibe to your 'do. To tame unwanted flyaways and frizz, use a smoothing product such as Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shin Anti-Humidity Smoothing Milk. Gently brush hair off to one side and secure the pony with an elastic band.

Step 2.
Separate hair into two equal sections and begin braiding the inside section. Once you've finished the braid - or your layers no longer want to cooperate - secure it with an elastic band.

Step 3.
Separate the un-braided section into three equal parts. Begin weaving the first strand through the existing braid by following the existing loops as a guide. Repeat with the remaining two sections until all the pieces are woven into the plait.

Step 4.
Spray the braid with a strong-hold hairspray like L'Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray Extra Strong Hold Volume to make sure the strands stay put.
