Ask The Bridal Guru: How Long Should I Have My Registry at Stores | MS Bridal Guru

Dear The Bridal Registry,

We are getting married soon. Instead of having bridal showers before the marriage, we are having them after the wedding. We have registered at a number of bridal registries in the area. And these are the gifts I want our gifts to give us. I also want to make sure that our friends and family can have an easy time finding the gifts that we have chosen and would like for our new home. I am worried that after the wedding, our registries will be deleted. How long can I keep my registry at various stores that we are registered?

Married Sooner

Dear Married Sooner,

The rule of etiquette is guests have one year from the date of your wedding to give you a gift. Ask the stores where you are registered what their policy is. How long will your registry remain after the wedding date. I would recommend one year at the most for keeping your registry open at the many stores you have registered gifts. This gives everyone plenty of time to buy gifts. and you are not so rushed right after your wedding. Plus your guests are not rushed to get your gift. It's good for everyone. Enjoy your upcoming wedding and the showers to follow.
