The City of Golden Winters Styled Shoot - Wedding Friends

Althoug winter has passed, a lot of brides are getting engaged now and planning their weddings for next year. Winter, is not a time of year you have to avoid, by embracing the 'winter wedding' you will find that it proposes endless possibilities. A great team of wedding suppliers came together and showed exactly what can be done with winter weddings. The team shares their advice.

When deciding on wedding dates engaged couples often neglect to consider the
winter months, rushing instead with the masses to secure highly sought dates in
summer or spring. The cooler months in Johannesburg are underrated: there's no
rain, the temperature is more forgiving when wearing formalwear, and the light is
always golden. The lack of appreciation for Jozi's chilly months, however, is
changing. This styled shoot sought to support this change by showing how truly
beautiful a winter wedding in the City of Golden Winters can be. The inspiration for
this styled shoot was the hidden beauty of Jozi's natural landscapes in the months of
June, July, and August. Looking deeper, couples will discover the gold hidden within
Jozi's natural surroundings.

The golden light of Jozi colder months means that winter wedding décor can be kept
uncomplicated. Natalie from My Eden Weddings crafted the centrepieces using a
classic white and green colour palette with touches of pinks. She used Kol-Kol (Cape
indigenous), Ruscus, and Bupleurum for the fresh green in these arrangements, and
Lisianthus as the main bloom. Aster and pink wax flowers were used as fillers.
Combined, these flowers made the centrepiece pop exquisitely against the more
subdued hues of the understated hessian runner. Natalie used a piece of driftwood
as the base for this arrangement which allowed the Lisianthus and wild tendrils of
Bupleurum to cascade onto the table, adding to the romantic feel of the table décor.
The bouquet was inspired by whimsical romance and Natalie used untamed Aster
blooms to create a sense of a bride walking through a field, picking wildflowers along
her way.

The perpetual sun in our beautiful city means that brides married in Jozi during
winter can celebrate their special days in strapless or even open back wedding
gowns. The spectacular off-white gowns featured here were created by Jacelyn
Gozadinos from White Lilly Bridal. They harmonise beautifully with the gentle gold of
the surrounding flora. The two showcased gowns capture two different bridal styles
that could both work with the theme of this styled shoot.

Luke from Luke Tannous photography captured the images for this styled shoot.
Luke's first passion isn't photography; it's people. His photojournalistic style with
editorial influences perfectly pictured the potential brilliance of a winter wedding in
the city of gold.

Thank you to all the high-quality suppliers who shared their talents and time to make
the City of Golden Winters the inspirational shoot we hope you find it.
